You should have used
1) sand paper first with a mild concentration
2) saphir renovateur
3) the saphir pommadier
4) saphir wax for a real mirror shine on the toe cap

The Hangar project is one of my favorite sites - very authoritative and they subscribe tos ome very high ideals. Are the Saphir products pricey?
