Good idea!!!
ОтветитьWhat kind of chickens are those in the video?
ОтветитьI use layer pellets !
ОтветитьGreat tip..gonna head to my local feed store and pick some up. I've been giving my hens a couple cans of tuna fish in soybean oil for added protein. Going to put a light on a timer in next. Are you supplementing with oyster shell for calcium?
ОтветитьThank u so much I hope this helps us
ОтветитьReally great information! Thanks so much!
ОтветитьYup, they need the protein. That's why I'm raising meal worms, even though I don't have chickens at the moment.
ОтветитьI love love love your advice! Thank You!
ОтветитьWorked in a poultry egg operation for years when I was young. You don't need to with hold feeding them, just feed them higher protein feed of at least 16%. Higher protein is ok, but your over feeding protein it on chickens as they do not utilize all the protein at that level. A bright light over them is needed as well. We had commercial production year round.
ОтветитьThanks for this!
ОтветитьI'm diggin dim boxes.
ОтветитьWhy do you put elec fence on timer? Why not just keep on 24/7
Ответитьgame bird feed is the best cuz it has all the other nutrients they need also...but, if that's not available & you have dry cat food, you can toss a handful of that each day till the egg production comes up. other protein sources like cooked egg or hamburger also work.
ОтветитьMore than likely your hens were just molting. They don't lay for about 8 weeks a year while they lose and regrow their feathers. You'll hear all kinds of stuff like this from people but as Poultry Science major I'm here to tell you it's mostly nonsense. Withholding feed for a day doesn't make them lay eggs. You are gonna burn their breasts off and cause more health problems for them if you continue to feed over 18% Protein for any extended amount of time. A diet that has multiple whole grains added to a complete pellet ration and some animal protein and fresh greens will be by far the most healthy for chickens, I shoot for a protein level of about 16 to 18% in my feed mix. Chickens are photosensitive layers and the amount of light they receive per day is one of the single biggest driving forces for egg production. Your hens most likely finished up the molt and your light stimulated them to resume laying. The extra protein boost you gave them probably helped their feathers to finish coming in and harden off.
ОтветитьI always use "layer" feed, but sometimes the egg is just stuck. So, I put my lips over their beak and blow real hard. Its never worked for me, but its worth a try.
ОтветитьRaise Black Soldier Fly larvae and feed them to the chickens. They LOVE BSFL, which are full of protein. The larvae will only cost you food scraps, waste.
ОтветитьThanks for this tip! I will have to try this for our hens.
ОтветитьI'm going to try the game bird feed. I've had light on for them for over 3 weeks and hasn't helped. Thanks!
ОтветитьGood video buddy..very informative...SRF LIKE LIKE LIKE
ОтветитьI was suspect it was high protein introduction.....note all the runny sh*t stuck to hens butt. 50% laying in Winter is pretty good results, nice tip.
ОтветитьMight give this a shot....also really looking forward to the best nest box video!
ОтветитьDolly Perry sent me ... Nice channel thanks for Sharing
God Bless❄
Thanks for the information, we just took your advice this week and just got 2 eggs in the nest box this morning!
Ответитьi had that problem a few times. they have full time access to layer pellets . but when they slow down i give them fermented whole corn and oats and give em all the eggs shells i use at home
ОтветитьI think it’s sad. My hens lay everyday... 6 a day. I wish they would slow down. As it so hard on their bodies
ОтветитьSix hens.
Ответитьmine high protine dog food twise a week. my chickens lay every day amnd the oil in the dog food makes feathers shine real gd
ОтветитьAwesome!
ОтветитьVoice kinda reminds me of mr.mackey lol but a very helpful video.
ОтветитьAlan, here in up-state New York we just give them a little extra light in the winter. we feed layer pellets and a few handfuls of scratch grains and our small flock (8) layers give us on average 6 to 7 eggs every day. more than we can use so we give to the neighbors when the eggs start to pile up.
ОтветитьMy husband and I just put the game bird feed in this morning to some hungry ladies. Ours haven't been laying for almost a year, so if this works, we will be thrilled! 7 lazy pet chickens is a bit ridiculous, lol.
ОтветитьAre my chickens too old to lay eggs ?
ОтветитьMine died
ОтветитьAnother great way to get egg production up, is to feed some tuna or sardines. Walmart sells canned tuna for .45 cents and
.99 cents a can for sardines. It don't take much too get them producing more eggs in no time. Grains are nice, but real seafood and meat, will get them roaring. Chickens actually prefer real meat and seafood over protein derived from grains. Best of luck and great looking flock and advice.👍
Hahaha...when he was trying to scare em...I thought he was serious....lol
ОтветитьWhen you force laying with false summer light in the winter it is hard on chickens and they live half as long. You can get more eggs with better diet. How much is enough?
ОтветитьI own 5 hens and 1 rooster and they lay atleast 1 or 2 eggs a day
ОтветитьHow much times do you need to shock them remove feed?
ОтветитьUnmedicated grower is higher in protein than lay feed too.
ОтветитьUse diatomaceous earth to worm with...it’s all natural. I mix it in their food and sprinkle it in the pen
ОтветитьYou dont need light in the winter if you just feed them corn and sometimes bread in the winter they will FOR SURE LAY EGGS just check out Becky's channel just corn can warm them up and make em lay eggs.
Ответитьwow beautiful hens. What is this light brown hen breed..? MY RIR (commercial breed)started laying eggs 60 gm now its summer here in Pakistan and the size of egg reduced. What to do to get a bigger egg/
ОтветитьThis guy sounds like Mathew mccaunaghey
ОтветитьGood information
ОтветитьI see some dirty behinds , you might want to check for mites or lice.
ОтветитьWhich breed lay more eggs...?
ОтветитьHallelujah love that intro!
ОтветитьLoved the Verse!!
