I followed your instructions. I used this design. And I had a flawless extraction. Thank you very much!
ОтветитьI love the ingenuity and the 'homemade' solution. However, with all due respect...it really isn't that difficult to remove the oil plug from the bottom and let the oil drain completely into an oil pan. Your solution, again while very neat...is going to be a bit messy to clean those tubes/bottles out and store in such a way as to not leave a mess everywhere.
With all that said...I suspect I'm going to build this and give it a go!
You’re a great engineer! Thanks for sharing your knowledge
ОтветитьI think tipping it over for my 21 inch self-propelled works completely fine. Can’t get any easier. Tip it over pores in a small plastic container. Put it up right. Fill it with 16 ounces. Done.
ОтветитьLove it! Thanks!
ОтветитьWhy do you need the length of slightly thinner hose?
ОтветитьYou can avoid a lot of the plumbing by putting the open collection bottle INSIDE the shop-vac and running a tube into it through the vacuum port. Adjust the vacuum by covering the port.
Ответитьwhen i change my oil or power stearing fluid i use a 3 oz syringe with a tube
Ответитьi've been using a hand pump syphon type thing and it's a pain.. i'll be putting this on the project list for sure
ОтветитьThis is great I can use it to drain my transmission oil from my Explorer
Ответитьwow that super convenient, i will definitely make one of these , thanks
ОтветитьI never change my mower oil. 7years old and still starts on the first pull
ОтветитьNeat idea..sure beats getting oil all over the place
ОтветитьWhat a great idea. I am building it right away!
ОтветитьAwesome! Thank you for making this video!!
ОтветитьExcellent. Well presented and appears very effective. Can't wait to try it out. Greg
ОтветитьThan was some dirty oil. Nice video!
ОтветитьYou are the bomb. A true genius. Thanks
ОтветитьVery cool! Thanks!
ОтветитьOr you can just get an oil change syringe kit for $5.
ОтветитьNeat approach, however you are leaving most of any crap like shavings, etc down in the bottom of the engine.
Smartest thing to do if you plan on doing an oil change is:
1. $1.25 plastic oil pan from the dollar store
2. Cut grass until it runs out of fuel
3. Take air filter out
4. Empty oil into plastic oil pan.
5. Clean up any oil/gas from around air filter housing and replace filter.
6. Add oil to level, run it for several minutes, recheck/add and you're done.
This way might take 5 minutes tops, however you are getting any trash out of the engine vs not.
Thanks for the video. I love homemade gadgetry like this.
ОтветитьVery cool idea. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьJust get a mityvac thing
ОтветитьWhy you are using this additional 30cm x 8mm white tube? Why don't you use only transparent tube in one piece?
ОтветитьIt's probably been said, but buying a new $15-20 Nalgene bottle for this would be pretty silly.
ОтветитьThanks for this post. It works great!!
ОтветитьUse a pool filter on your shop vac
ОтветитьThis is amazing. Definitely doing this
ОтветитьI have a similar set-up but instead of using a shopvac I use a blow up mattress pump that have vac and pump , works well
ОтветитьI'm gonna make me one of these for my push mowers. Much cheaper than if you were to buy one. Thank you for the tip.
ОтветитьToro Time Master has no drain plug. The oil change instructions says to tip it over and pour it out of the fill tube. This vacuum tube method with a marked container is much cleaner. It also lets you know how much oil to put back in. I used a vacuum pump from a bad vacuum sealer machine that failed to melt the bags as my pump. Thank you for your video.
ОтветитьVery smart!! Thank you.
ОтветитьExcellent
ОтветитьI like how you said "no tools" - except for the utility knife, that scissors, the drill, the step bit, the dikes, the needle nose pliers, and the shop vac... oh and the apparatus you end up with. having said that, this is awesome and works beautifully.
ОтветитьI switched to electric garden power tools for my business. I've never looked back. No oil changes or petrol
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this wonderful way to drain oil from any four stroke small engine device.. This was a great experience and worthy of sharing with anyone who would like to do their own oil changes. I will be sharing this link with those who look at my gardening blog.
ОтветитьOMG! You just saved me a ton of time changing the oil in my small engines. I bet this could work for removing gasoline from ATV's, motorcycles, etc. too. Brilliant!!! Thanks a bunch
ОтветитьI worked at the Philadelphia Marine Center, and that's how I winterized boats and yachts. Great and easy method. Thank you.
ОтветитьYa it may work just fine, but you don't get all the dirty particles drained out, which is why you are supposed to change the oil in the first place. If you drain it properly, you get all the dirt out too.
ОтветитьI love this idea! Do you have plans for a bong?
ОтветитьBrilliant!! Thank you so much!
ОтветитьUse an empty 5 Litre oil container
Also find any pump that can be operated by rotating
the shaft using a cordless drill
🌷
ОтветитьCool!😎
ОтветитьThat is really clever! Class idea!
ОтветитьMy soul cried a little seeing a nice Nalgene bottle used to collect oil! You're right though, they'll store just about anything.
Thanks for the great video.
Ingenious, but yet one more reason nobody with a city lawn needs a gas lawnmower. I have been using a battery mower since 2017,and have no maintenance issues with it other than charging the battery.
