that's actually pretty clever, I like the idea. naturally it's for hot weather. have you had your radiator push coolant out yet?

I have an expansion tank installed higher up on the grill, used extra bit of hose. I kept radiator cap on the radiator, opposite to what you say, still works ok.

That's neat. You'd naturally think it'd be an extra cooler or something, but this makes complete sense. An overflow tank has been a given since I started wrenching on my own.

It was invented by Brig. Bagnold in the 1930ies and later used on the LRDG vehicles!

Painfull narration, this would have been a useless educational film when all this tech was current,WW2 would have been over before the info was delivered. Sorry but despite the good video film quality it is awfull, remake it please!

Important to just keep the water level roughly halfway up the desert cooler canister, don't fill more than this as you need to leave space for it to work. Also, when checking the water level this is done by just checking the canister. Interestingly, here in the UK, Land Rovers (at least military ones) have an identical system except that the canister is fitted in the engine bay.

The original version designed by LRDG (Long Range Desert Group) Officer Ralph Bagnold and was called a condenser.

Hey brother just wanted to let you know those caps should be switched if your using the tank as an overflow. The pressure cap should be on the radiator and the zero cap on the tank. Just as any standard car would have.
