I'm so glad I was raised on cast iron and stainless steel. I'll never be mad at my mum for teaching me to use glass and stainless over plastic if I ever have a choice.

I grew up in Delaware, we have DuPont, Ciba-Geigy etc. and in the 90's one of the highest cancer rates. My Dad died at 41, he worked at Ciba-Geigy for a few years, and my Mom told me when he would sweat in his sleep, blue pigment would come out of his pores and dye the bedding. Fuck corporations in America, American made isn't something to be proud of. We are guinea pigs to corporations. $$ > EVERYTHING.

Just found out I have an extreme sensitivity to Invisalign polymers. Any plastics. PFAS. Gained 40 pounds in the last 7 months…around my torso. Couldn’t eat. Jaw swollen. Sores on my lips. Cleansing my body the best I can.

The fact that those companies knew what they were doing and did it anyhow and nobody went to jail and the companies are still in business is disturbing. But that's corporate America for you.

I grew up in a small town in Mass. There was a chemical plant that closed in the early 80's. Turns out that they had been dumping all kinds of stuff for decades. We, the citizens of this small town, fought with the Federal Gov. and won. We ended up in the top 5 of the Super Fund sites for the whole country. The 'clean-up' is still on-going and people are still dying and kids are still being born with defects.

Word got out somehow in California. We dumped our Teflon crap after mom’s 2nd bout of breast cancer.

Such a dark movie of how American corporations do not care about Americans at all.

And much of it was blamed on tobacco by the doctors. If you didn't smoke, it must have been the second hand smoke. couldn't teflon and fly ash.
Check the cancer rates downwind from smoke stacks. And always note, the wealthy neighborhoods are almost never downwind.

Teflon is still widely used on egg pans in restaurants. Think about that before you order yourself scramble or over easy eggs . I have been slinging food as a professional chef for over 30 years. We use them all the time.
I am greatful that I have an egg allergy.

Over the years I've noticed friends and family that remain in those areas have died from various cancers. It's not a genetic problem it's an environmental problem.

Remember this is but one story about one (chemical) additive from one company willing to value quick profit over the slow to quick death of the people that they see as consumers.

Dupont and monsanto poisoned water ways and experimented with agent orange all over the rural south. My grandmother talked about men in hazmat suits spraying chemicals. She was one of 8 siblings who all died of cancer. Exposure to agent orange can change DNA. My granfmother died of a brain tumor. A decade later my mom died of the same kind of brain tumor even though it was not thought to be a hereditary cancer. Capitalism is poison.

And DuPont heirs are still wealthy to this day.

There doesn't seem to be any end to the evil these corporations commit.

Northrop Grumman uses DuPont cast-off material as solid rocket propellant for one of their rocket programs. The navy buys a couple dozen (rockets) every year as $3m clay pigeons, which are then shot off the coast of Cali where they sink to the bottom of the ocean and leech off that plastic cast-off material, as well as a host of other hard metals and solvents. Gotta love it.

The wires I strip at work are coated in Teflon insulation. So when I solder them and the insulation melts and smokes I’m sure that’s extremely toxic.

Wilbur Tennant was brilliantly played by character actor Bill Camp. A perfect embodiment of an Appalachian farmer you'd meet in any feed store.
I only found this film due to its trailer on a DVD. Underrated and under-promoted!

A couple years ago I started looking into the dangers of microplastics, and it also brought me to PFAS and non stick pans. I realized how much we were being poisoned. I have talked about it with people close to me but they all look at me like I’m crazy. They don’t seem to care because they have grown up using these products and people just seem to tune out the clear information showing how bad plastics and chemicals can be. I literally felt like mark ruffalo trying to explain how we’re being poisoned
