I know exactly what she means about that feeling of dread when opening my fiddle case after several days of not playing. I've been fortunate enough to pick up a couple of old violins at antique stores. The best thing I ever did for my playing was to take one of these out of its case and leave it on top of our piano. Every time I enter our living room, I have to pass right by that fiddle. Because of this, it gets played a lot more than it used to; which has really helped my playing. The old fiddle seems to have sweetened up a bit too.
ОтветитьI had not played for 34 years , I played guitar during tht tm but not violin , I do like what you you say about resistance , im not as good as I once was but in my case I dont remember how "good" I once was , at this point I figure ive forgotten a lot anyway so im just havn a lot of fun & when i remember part of the Accolay it's all gravy. One cannot relearn a skill by trying to remember a previous state , but you just hv to jump back in the swimming pool to use an analogy do you agree )
ОтветитьI stopped playing when I graduated high school, should I just Re-learn from scratch?
ОтветитьI played when I was younger and took several years off because I just flat out got tired and burnt out, and felt that I didn't have the time or the interest in the music from the program I had been in and I just didn't feel like I could get into other music since I was too burnt out/busy to practice on my own time. When I started trying to get back to it before, I felt so weird getting back because my skill was still above a total beginner so any videos made me feel patronized and I felt like I was being treated like a kid lol. But, I wasn't quite where I could just pick up new songs that I liked either. It can be hard to find that happy medium I guess. Anyway, trying again, hopefully to more success. Thanks for the words, kinda what I needed to hear ~
ОтветитьI haven't played violin in 4 years... I can play flute and read music but when I play violin it sounds like a chicken scratch.. help
Ответитьthank youuuu
ОтветитьAll musicians go through this at some point and it's the ones who refuse to stay down that are successful. Thank you for your encouragement Heather.
ОтветитьI played since 4 and stopped in the 5th grade because I started playing trumpet in 4 th grade. 6th grade i started playing piano, (while keeping trumpet as my major) however I want to get back to playing violin again. But then I started playing on my friends and I just forgot everything :(. What do you think I should do??
Ответитьi haven't played in a month and i feel awful about it haha
ОтветитьI have chronic illness, I had several brain surgeries, and I can't play when I'm recovering, for at least several weeks, I had multiple surgeries over the past year and i feel I have been on the same level forever.
My teacher knows about my health and he's very understanding, but I wish I can move faster.. I really need words of encouragement...
I had stopped playing violin over 4 years😌😌😌..any suggestion for me how start back? The sounds very hmmm
ОтветитьIt has been 6 months since i last touched my violin..i took a break due to my exams and back pain... And now my violin is not on a good shape,i feel so guilty for it..
What can i do.. The fingerboard has bent down touching the body and there is so much gap between the finger board and the strings.. The keys are not rotating..😞😭
I stop playing for 5 years due to focusing my guitar skill. Now I wanted to start playing again, sounds really bad haha. Any piece suggestions to kickstart besides practicing scales and techniques?
ОтветитьIt's been quite a few months of not picking up my violin, mostly due to me forgetting where i put my rosin (i found it the other day) and the fact my mental health hasn't been very good in the past couple of years but has gotten pretty bad recently. Playing and listening to music used to be a bit of a coping mechanism until i lost motivation but now i feel like i should in fear of loosing the skills i had. For quite awhile i was one of the best in my classes, mostly due to my nack for music especially after learning the violin which is the only instrument I've actually been properly taught. That was the only thing i even remotely took pride in but now i feel like im on the verge of loosing it... dang it im ranting ima go practice now
ОтветитьThis is has become so much more relevant recently. Starting from last March ever since I had to cancel my private lessons I played less and less of the violin every day up to the point where when the new school year (2020-2021) rolled around I was worse than when I started highschool (2019-2020). 6 months later and I’ve finally found the motivation to pick it up again, just to try and establish some sort of daily routine once again.
ОтветитьI studied playing violin for 3 years back when I was still a kid (maybe at 2012 to 2014). Now it's 2021 and I'm regretting quitting the class. I really wanna get back to playing violin...
ОтветитьI've had several occasions of long periods of not playing. The most recent was a little over a year. Every time the initial playing of whatever I left off is incredibly good. I mean better than I recall my last efforts. Then I get encouraged and start "working" the piece, etude, or exercise, and it turns into frustrating crap. I think on the initial return I'm super relaxed and not putting pressure on myself and the tension comes in when I start focusing on the little details. Right now my primary focus is bowing and bow distribution and clean string crossing. 2022 is mastering the bow 😎
ОтветитьI was grade 8, first violin of a local orchestra, played every day. Stopped playing and now it's been 15 years..... This is going to be a slog 😂
ОтветитьI played the violin for 10 years during my school time and quitted when I graduated. Now 7 years later I have the urge to start again. I won’t have much time as I’m a working mum but I still want to come back to it. I think I’m finally at the point in my life where I’m able to really appreciate the violin.
