Very interesting Title. I've got to listen to this reading. Sounds good so far.
ОтветитьThe interjections are distracting 🫤
ОтветитьCertainly didn't expect it to start the way it does!! Certainly, very good so far. Thanks LibriVox Audiobooks! ❤
ОтветитьThat woman at the farm that they worked for sure took advantage of them.
ОтветитьClub ?
ОтветитьWhen being hosted by the kind family in Omaha, it seems like their host, a nurse, could have introduced Ethyl to the medical community to see what employment or assistance might be available. Wikipedia posts article on Ethyl Grace Lynn covering her early life, education and later accomplishments. But Wiki ignores her experience in the 1906 earthquake and decline into poverty in Chicago, even though the Wiki bibliography lists the book about those years.
ОтветитьThe reader of section 8 ( where I currently am ) is a very monotone and dull reader. The woman preceding him was excellent to listen to. I could say the same about the other readers prior to section/ chapter 8 as well. But this new reader speaks in a manner that's very difficult to enjoy with his voice so boring and sounding like someone who has a clogged nose to top it off.
The whole section should be edited out and replaced by a competent reader. I guess anybody can just volunteer and read? How does it work?
Otherwise it's an enjoyable story that reminds me of several of Steinbeck's books.
I will keep listening and just pray this is the only section he will read in. 😢
An early feminist adventure in so many ways.
ОтветитьWow! What a treat. And what a disquisition of what life was truly like in this country back in 1908. This is a historical gem and oh what an adventure. I am so glad this was chosen and shared with the public at large. A true time capsule. Thanks to those who did the reading and to LibriVox.
ОтветитьLibrivox has got me thru long days at work thank you and salute 🫡. ❤
ОтветитьVal Roth (?) is far and away the best reader !!!
ОтветитьWonderful biography. Very interesting. The flow of the story is choppy with so many different narrators. Why did Librovox do it that way? Just curious. So many audiobooks have a single narrator.
Ответить¡Spoiler! Alert-

Thank you
ОтветитьA wonderful story in many ways. It seems very true-to-life. I wonder how the author...but never mind.
ОтветитьThis was beautifully written and very interesting! I am so glad I ran across it. Thank you!❤
ОтветитьInteresting book, but some of the Readers are really bad which is sad and heard to keep listening
ОтветитьI loved this. Thank you to all who made this happen. ❤
Ответить⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕
My 1/2 off of 5 stars is due to the way l Liebervox has to get the readings done.
I’m grateful for all the people who come in and pick up a section to read so that I can listen.
Too bad the readers ruined a great book. Wish youd stuck with one decent narrator. 😢😢
ОтветитьThis took place a year before my own mother was born, but it is a timely account of what we all, well those younger than me, since the very old and very young do not survive such things, may be facing, if we do not manage to bar a dictator wannabe from destroying the ideals of our founders, and instead plunges this nation into chaos and bloody war.
I hope that does not happen, but the truth and lessons of this story are hard to miss. Survival depends on human beings not behaving like lone wolves, but understanding we must depend on each other when evil times and evil people are upon us.
Thanks so much all readers really enjoy this
