I probably celebrated as much as any Swede or Fin when they were brought into NATO.
Finally our family is complete. Nordics <3.
We shall not have to depend on other nations. Being able to stand as one, on our own... That feels great.
Norway also got a large and light armed costal guard which will have a anti submarine function
ОтветитьRegarding increased number of personnel. The new Norwegian frigates will be smaller than the old ones and more will be automated so number of personnel will not increase proportionally. Old ships will also be faced out.
ОтветитьPeople here question the differences in size of forces and equipment, in differences in budgets and in differences in quality of forces and equipment. Then be happy. This Nordic cooperation will increase quality all over and lift those areas lacking behind so all ends at the same level. Common political meeting will likely force a common spending level over time. Hopefully we will think smarter- There is no need for a Swedish Atlantic fleet or a Danish Baltic Fleet. A Danish North Sea Fleet should cover also the Swedish west coast and Norway's coastline south of Bergen. A combined structure will fill inn for each other. A common procurement and production (if it is possible) will also strengthen the forces and make it cheaper. The video said personnel could be working cross boarder. That would be great. A Danish North Sea Fleet could include some Swedish and Norwegian officers.
ОтветитьDenmark will use 40 billion danish kroners on 12 large surface fleet ships. This will likely be 3-4 Baltic corvettes, smaller in class than Ivar Huitfeldt class Frigats, smaller because they have to operate also in brown water, in fjords and Straits in the Baltic, but also equipped with the 41 vls launcher. Denmark will also get 4-5 Artic patrol frigates, on top of that there will be new patrol ships.
There is also talks of buying the SM3 to further AA frigates operating range, as of now we use SM2 block 2
How is Denmark able to defend its two autonomous regions in the North Atlantic, so far away from Denmark proper?
ОтветитьVikings !❤
Ответитьdenmark is expecting to build up to 55 new navy wessels in the next 20 or so years
ОтветитьThe coastal artillery background shots of island based Finnish guns may be a bit confusing in relation to naval power, the guns are there mainly to deter mine clearance. Sure, the 130mm cannon in a bedrock placement was in my service in 1992 a formidable piece of kit, with optical and thermal sights plus full integration into coastal spotter network. and full battery computerized real time firing solutions. In modern littoral combat they are (and even then were) in a diminishing role.
ОтветитьRussian ships located in St.Petersburg is larger and more capable than Sweden and Finnland ships, sweden and Finnland do not use frigates or large combat vessels, Visby class is surely a very capable stealth ship but it has a rather small and single canon if it ever gets visible by Russian warships it will be in trouble.
The tonnage of vessels is also an rough estimate of how capable they are. It directly correlation to the amout of missiles and weapon systems the ship can carry.
You can have 100's SB/CB90 boats but they will never defeat a single frigate.
🇳🇴 🇸🇪 🇫🇮 🇩🇰🫡
ОтветитьNorway's submarines are so stealthy that I didn't even know they existed. Lel.
ОтветитьPretty awesome, The Nordic Nations will be a great powerhouse for NATO! Russia will think twice about any intrusion on their part.
ОтветитьExcellent SITREP, logical and cost effective in the long term for projecting power through integration, it is about time these cooperative measures were formalised.
It also ensures a seriously powerful voice in decision making within NATO and beyond.
As a seafarer by trade, I hope the Norwegian navy starts training properly, because we saw what happened last time they were having an exercise by themselves. Sinking one of the few frigates we had.
ОтветитьAll fine, hopefully it's not too late, these things take time to build. I would call the Norwegian Navy "blue water" though.
ОтветитьWe dont need Nato. It is a safety net. Sure. Even if USA leave Nato. Not a big deal. I would not Trust France or germany or spain etc.. But Should Russia attack any of the Baltic Nations or Nordic nations. I think Even Iceland would pick up arms, and swim to Finland. Thats how pissed of we would be.
ОтветитьId like to suggest we name this combined navy the Flatpack Fleet
ОтветитьFinland no submarine??😂
ОтветитьLes Britanniques ont à peine la moitié de ce tonnage . Les Français sont 67 millions.
ОтветитьIt does make me wonder if eventually we`ll have The Nordic Defense Alliance or something like that, since our air forces are now already combined as one air force.
Ответитьabout time
ОтветитьBut still why are we as humans så damn stupid, we are like ants fighting each other, but for what??
ОтветитьExcellent video, as always! More countries ought to invest in the highly flexible Danish built frigates, which quickly can be changed into various capabilities, according to present requirements. Just like more countries should invest in the superior Swedish fighters and Norwegian air defence systems.
ОтветитьThe equipment is irrelevant if we don't give the Soldiers and Talents a good wage. They are professionals, on an equal footing with other Craftsmen! If our Scandinavian soldiers have to risk their lives, they must be among the best trained, best equated and best paid in the world! Scandinavia is small, but our citizens are well educated. We do more with less ☺ ! Quality over Quantity ! So President Elect. Humpty Trumpty. The Nordics are small, but if you looking for a fight, your´ll get one !
ОтветитьWe need to buy a US carrier group and work together.
ОтветитьIs still think that after pohjanmaa class is done Finland should build yet two destroyer class ships with same arms and add them tomahowks and with medical department and bigger fuel tank so they could take part of NATO's arctic sea controlling.
ОтветитьThe Nordic countries must unite as the world order is changing. We cannot rely on our allies anymore - we need to grow stronger togehter.
Ответитьthe russians should move their baltic fleet elsewhere. its useless, the baltic is 100% NATO territory.
ОтветитьFinland can handle the Baltic sea and its own gulf. Sweden really needs to help Norway handle the North Atlantic/Norwegian Sea despite the Norwegian naval buildup. The US Navy, in the event of a Pacific war with China, may have to pull ships off the European seas and send them to the Pacific theater. But Norway, with its huge sovereign fund, can easily afford to expand its navy.
I AM VERY ENCOURAGED TO SEE THE NORDIC ALL DOMAIN MILITARY INTEGRATION. ThIs is a great deterrent to Russian adventurism. (But I fear Denmark is WAY behind in its naval security.)
As a Finn very proud of our army and fleet. We build very good ships and ice breakers.
ОтветитьNU❤❤❤❤Nordic United❤❤
ОтветитьLook at this beautiful comment section.
ОтветитьRunning on Russian fuel....hahahaha.....lol.....lmao.....haha
ОтветитьTime for Norway to rise up and buy french brigade for get in the big game
ОтветитьHopefully also learning from what Ukraine has been dealing out to the Russian Black Sea Fleet 🤔
ОтветитьEurope = upgrading its military
The USA = downgrading its military.
Thankfully Conservative ideology is too incompetent to actually improve anything.
Dont push the scandics.
Ответитьkæft du taler flot engelsk :)
ОтветитьIt is hilarious all the armchair warriors dreaming of a joint Nordic fleet/defense group. Only thing is there has been one since 2014, the JEF, it even has nukes.
ОтветитьDet var på tiden. Its about time. 👍
Mer av detta tack!
🇸🇪
A Baltic wide Navy might be the thing to go for, adding in the 3 Baltics, Poland and Germany.
ОтветитьNorway has the largest naval defense in the Nordic countries, but also the longest coastline and is the gateway to the Arctic Ocean.
Therefore, Norway and the UK have signed a new agreement on defense cooperation.
Norway and the UK have a long history of cooperation in the North.
Norway managed to keep the Soviet Union at bay during the Cold War, and will probably do the same with Russia.
Finland is most exposed due to a long border with Russia, and does not have the largest naval defense.
In any case, it is great that all countries in the Nordic countries are members of NATO.
Norway has long experience in dealing with Russia, before Sweden and Finland became NATO members.
Finland has never had any problems with recruitment for obvious reasons
ОтветитьFrom a purely defensive perspective the Pohjanmaa class of ships are a dick measuring thing. Baltic sea and Finland's coast make big fuckoff warships look like billion dollar targets.
So mr militaryrated would you personally rather use that money for better antishipmissiles, asw helicopters, smaller fast attack craft and the like?
Imagine if sweden denmark norway and finnland joined to became one nation that would be interesting
ОтветитьThe Norwegian Navy must learn to navigate first before they buy such large ships, otherwise they end up at the bottom of the sea like the F313 Helge Ingstad. 🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьDoes that means. That we are now building destroyers and carriers. Could be so awesome
ОтветитьDenmark's navy is anything but scary, our current frigates can't even fire they main guns, because the targeting systems never got operational - it's really embarrasing.
