sway wm for the win! No seriously I made the switch from KDE plasma right to sway wm. To me i3 feels like a worse version of sway because X11 still sucks and wayland works better for me.
ОтветитьWhat Linux distro do you use?
ОтветитьI started watching Primeagen in 2004 and I’m almost finished setting up my workspace so I can start coding at maximum productivity. I can’t wait!
ОтветитьTmux ftw
ОтветитьIf you have to or want to use windows there is still hope, don’t let yourself be laughed at.
C, lua and rust to the rescue.
As “kind of” replacement for Tmux, Wezterm does a great job, configuration done in lua, maybe it doesn’t do everything tmux does but the things it misses, do you really care about them?
Your editor nvim, vscode and helix as far as i know they all work well and are cross platform, if you choose nvim you will use lua too for your config. Choose one and move on with your life.
As your shell, nushell, it works great and is cross platform, it has integrated many gnu core utils you might know already.
As many suggest, integrate one tool at a time and it will be fine.
The previous tools have mainly one drawback though, your OS might become like your graphics card, you won’t care about it as long it shows stuff on the screen, you won’t care if it’s Linux, macO$ or window$
Do you have to keep those applications open at all times that are in different workspaces in i3?
ОтветитьTmux ftw🎉
ОтветитьHahahaha no way you guys also used PulseSecure🤣 I am a SysAdmin and one of our customers also used PulseSecure with an RSA TAN Generator. It is such a pain in the ass to connect to their system environment, we hate it 😂
Also the Data Center Management Team from our customer didn't give me the PulseSecure Client for Linux, so I always have to start up a windows vm that i have only for connecting to their environment. Again: I hate it.
My issue is that there’s a ton of overlap between tmux, i3wm, and vim. They each have their own splits, tabs etc..
Ответитьgotta check out tmux
ОтветитьYou can manage screens the exact same way in Windows? I am personally not a fan and prefer multi mon but I get why people do it. I use multi desktop specifically for managing tasks.
I don't like keeping terminals sessions alive, but you can do that in Windows too. At least with PowerShell and the new terminal manager (not my preferred mo)
The stuff you're showing in vim with telescope and harpoon. You can do that in pretty much anything. In vs code you can just pin files and get there fast. And fuzzy find exists too. Though I personally don't like how vs code does it.
So yeah, you can do all of this in Windows quite readily and easily
I really can't describe how I admire this man. Really professional and knows exactly how to make my brain hurt less. Love ya
ОтветитьYou son of a bitch you had me at starcraft
ОтветитьMy God get to the point you go on and on as if you invented the computer
ОтветитьSilly question but what font is that? Looks great!
ОтветитьThe community is thriving, but is it throbbing
Ответитьfor any mac users wanting the i3 life, aerospace is a good alternative
ОтветитьThere is an i3 inspired window manager for MacOS. It's called AeroSpace
ОтветитьIts possible on mac using automator and some paid for software.
It doesnt always work because if the program uses your shortcut you selected you are out of luck.
But here are the steps.
1. Open Automator (Cmd + space Animator)
2. Select Quick Actions (Gears)
3. Search for Launch Application (on the left side)
4. Save
5. Open System Settings (Cmd + space System)
6. Keyboard -> Services -> General
7. Find your action with the name you gave it
8. Add a shortcut. like cmd + option + 1
9. Repeat for other programs
Why is it autotranslate on Vietnam? (sorry for my English)
Ответитьprime how to configure that Ctrl-f in fzf?
Ответитьlinux ftw, I use mac btw. You can replicate sth similar on mac using virtual desktops and keyboard macros with Keyboard Maestro. Takes some initial setup but it’s doable
ОтветитьMy wife beats me
Ответитьkitty go burrr
Ответитьhi prime! answer please. when you do refactor of a codebase, you prefer vim or intellij?
ОтветитьWindows is better
ОтветитьWhat kind of a grown man puts an anime girl in his wallpaper. Good lord. Is he not married?
ОтветитьHehehehehehe Where's the mustach.
ОтветитьIt’s always arch people using anime girls for backgrounds
Ответитьon mac I've started using aerospace and it has most of the functionality of i3.
ОтветитьI actually just started using alacrity holy cow I love it it’s amazing 🥰
ОтветитьFree things are incredible Than the more costly things.

ОтветитьOn my mac I just disabled animations and created a new desktop for each thing I need and switch between then using ctrl-1 through ctrl-9, works the same.
Edit: I downloaded the aerospace window manager and it is great.

ОтветитьJust discovered this. Albeit I stumbled upon Sway Spin of Fedora .. the concept is still the same thing. I'm going to go be a dev now! thank you.
Ответитьyoull emacs and like it
ОтветитьActually PowerToys and FancyZones on Windows are arguably better than i3. jokes on you prime because i can play StarCraft on my Windows and spin some servers on Wsl2 using Arch image on one system and it works amazing
Ответитьthis man without that mustache looks weird.
Still have to pay respect because its prime
Wezterm?? Its configs are in lua :>
Ответитьis there an update video for this if he has changed anything with his setup?
ОтветитьDude y U using Ubuntu
