Well you don't want to add your flavoring until after you drop the temperature after boiling point you will lose a lot of flavor and if you use parchment paper you can work with it

ОтветитьHELP! I’ve been making this and it goes crumbly after a few days. It’s yummy and pliable a couple days then it gets crumbly. I have them individually wrapped and then wrapped in an airtight container but they still went crumbly. They just fall apart in your mouth and aren’t chewy anymore. Why is this?

I forgot the corn starch?So I drove to two stores to find some.
I added a table spoon and another tables spoon of vanilla and a tad more water.
I boiled it a little longer/forgot to buy a thermometer too?
I just dark vanilla?
Spilled half of the hot mix into the hot eye I'd used and the rear eye my wife was using for cooking greens/my pizza pan tilted of the other eyes/dang.
Short story long/I've now got some yellowish tasty thick pancake syrup.I even tried to freeze it.
It looks like your table spoon of butter is a half a stick.i may have used two table spoon of butter?

ОтветитьThose LorAnn brand flavorings are super concentrated, you only need a few drops if you add it at the end of cooking, right before you take it off the heat. If you add them at the start, a lot of the flavour will boil off and you will need a lot more.

ОтветитьJenn, I am almost 80 years old and very clearly remember when I was in school here in Atlanta. Each year for a fund raiser, we sold taffy……vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. They were in large rolls. Maybe about 6” in length and about 1-1/2” round. The softeness looked exactly like you were making when you were pulling and pulling. This video is making me tear up in remembrance because for my whole life I have tried and tried and tried to find WHERE this taffy was made, so that I could once again taste the softness. Now, Jenn, my question to you is…….if I can talk my daughter into making your taffy for me……will you please tell me exactly what is needed to make strawberry and chocolate. Both were mild flavors….not at all overpowering. And light colored. No cutting for this old gal ! I want each to be 6” in length and 1-1/2” round, as I try to recreate my memories.
