I have to use a 40 Vol to lighten my hair, nothing else does it for me. I can leave it on forever, well 1.5 hours is the longest, and my hair is never compromised. My only issue, finding a hairdresser willing to use 40v...I did have one in the UK for 6 years, when I relocated to the States...nope, no one would touch it. This means, my hair has NEVER got to the clean bright yellow-free blonde since I moved here, I now foil my own hair with a 40 vol and do a pretty good job :) As a side note, my mother also has to use a 40 vol...we have thick dark coarse hair.

I use 40 volume on my darkish brown hair for 60 mins and it becomes platinum blonde. Once and done.

What percentage will i get if i mix 6% and 12%? Or 3% and 9%?

Well, my mom had hair saloon for over 40 years and until the ealry 90's also the 60 volume developer was on the shelfs... lol

My old stylist used 50 volume on me and I still didn’t walk out of there with blonde hair…and I had a pixie cut.. 6 hours and $200 wasted

Best is to use 20 volume and then bleach 2 or 3 times until the best result. 😂

Tbh, 50 volumes bleach bath sounds like a sell to me. I’d def use it on a bleach bath.

I would only feel kinda safe using 50vol on Virgin Black or dark brown hair

For why, developer is basically like a charger that's a separate product then iPhone , but hair version

I’d use 50 vol using a high lift tint like wella professionals 12/1 or all the other 12s they’d lift brighter than using 12% 40 vol

I would die for you to do my hair. I have down to my waist, all one length, thick, level 4.5 hair. Texture is overall straight, although i have noticed as I age my hair tends to wave more after washing. Perfect canvas for anything. Also, i am fairly neutral in tone, so i can rock warm or cool hair.

I have auburn, thick hair and I just bought 50 v. I've dyed my own hair for about 10 years, no training, always used 40 v for 1 hr 45 to achieve "blonde" strips in my hair. I'm trying 50 for the first time 😮 wish me luck cuz now I'm super nervous!!

You have to take into account that a human head is giving oils and heat from the scalp so it would probably be more damaged.

A High Volume Developer will waste its action expelling Oxygen into the air because the hair can only absorb so much at a given time and the reaction on hair melanin can only go so fast. Lower Volume(s) will not lift as high in a given time but the hair will not be over oxidized and damaged.

I use to buy this enzymatic developer at a professional store in Lexington KY that was 50 to 80 volume.

But the 1 thing is the 50-80 volume says right on the bottle " for off scalp application"

If the smell makes your nose and your eyes burn that’s actually kind of terrifying to put on your hair if it’s that bad like can’t imagine what it would feel like on your scalp if it just burns by just smelling it that’s a little scary

I've Never heard of a 50 vol developer before! Just imagine people putting that 50 on their heads, and sitting through 40 minutes of burning just to get a quick blonde...😮

My hairdresser was using 50 volume 30 years ago it did not do as much damage as bleaching powder and 30vol that was used in the past.

I use the 50 for...making yellow plastics be white again. Paint on plastic, put clear wrap on it, put out in sun or uv rays for a bit. Take off wrap, wipe of the cream and viola!
