I think a big part of this is also that we've lost touch with each other. Not just between couples or how the family sees the dad. I wonder how much of this belief in dad being on the white horse is because we don't make ourselves vulnerable at any point. Not just when everything is heaviest, but even in light things, where we all crack jokes and complain together and move on, but not without spending some time to be honest with everything and how it feels going through it. That way, when it's needed most, it won't feel weird and off putting. From my children being very young, I told them, "The secret to life is never look up to anyone, never look down on anyone, and you will see things the way they are." They've become adults very quickly by understanding things way deeper than their peers. And are deciding for themselves to wake up at a decent time, what their time is worth, how to provide value and being responsible to own up to mistakes. I don't have to force him to anything and he pays rent.

Us guys aren't doing that with each other either on any grand scale anymore. Friends hanging out has dwindled as everyone is online. The biggest men's groups that everyone sees are the "alpha bros" that are just sucking each other off emotionally to force themselves not to cry. We should be getting together to feel good, not to feel hate for everything that isn't "good enough." If feeling your blood pump over the things you can't stand is what makes you feel good? You're dumping an emotional chemical of anger in our own bodies that affect how we see everything. It's like drinking a cup of poison and waiting for the thing you hate to die.

I do love the points she makes though. Spot on. It does work this way in evolution. Men take and abuse women. Women become strong over time and are fed up and strike back as a whole. Men get abused as ladies are more empowered with the law. And the driver of all of this was the speed of information was so slow that corruption was easy. Men are not allowed to make mistakes. When women mess things up, society often excuses them. Women often escape accountability. When a man comes up short in some way, society, and particularly the women in his life, who feel entitled to getting a hall pass themselves, always hold him to full accountability. I feel so grateful that I have a number of women friends (*friends*, not gfs, mind you) that I can genuinely be vulnerable with and know that they will respect it and never use it against me. One of them used to be my gf but when we were going out I couldn't do that with her then. I can now, but it took us not 'going out' for that happen. So now I just make friends with women and don't get romantically or sexually entangled with them. I consider it a reasonable, if sometimes sad, trade-off.

I feel like as a man the only way to counter this is to be honest. If you're feeling unsure but it's something you have to do then say that. If you jsut had a bad day at work then say that. And if they hate you for it so be it its nothing that wasnt real.
