I have seen but never used these. I used the method I was familiar with. I couldn't care less if it is 25 years old, I learned something.
A lot of snotty boys in men's bodies it seems.
English lesson sawder, sooder, sawdering, soodering. The word is solder to break it down SOLD ER. =. SOLDER, SOLDERING, for the people who don’t get it try this pronunciation soul der, soul der ing. Thank you
ОтветитьCan you use a hairdryer to melt them
ОтветитьThese are ok for low voltage applications, BUT the solder in the heat shrink tubing doesn't fully saturate the wire.
ОтветитьIts SoL der not sodder
ОтветитьNothing new, I've worked in aviation for years and these are used to put shield drain wires on shielded wire. However they are not the proper way to splice two wires, for that an environmental crimp is used. These actually don't have enough solder inside to splice two wires together, also that solder in your example is not melted properly, fail all the way around.
ОтветитьI used these at General Dynamics back in 1980's.
They are great for soldering a ground wire to coax braided shields.
Would these be good for connecting wired in a guitar pickup?
Ответитьdo these connectors compatible for copper wires that are not fibers? I mean copper wires that are in 1 piece each.
ОтветитьMade in China❤
ОтветитьWhere do you get these?
ОтветитьI didnt see them on the shelf at home Depot last time i was looking for smal electric connections
ОтветитьI purchased these and imho they are not all that useful.
I reverted back to manually soldering & using heat shrink tubing which I find better.
can you do this with two wires of different gauges? My lightbar wires seem quite a bit thicker than my harness wires
ОтветитьIf you can pull it apart it's not a good splice ...
ОтветитьCan these be used in fuel tanks ?
ОтветитьIs it necessary to rotate the wire?
ОтветитьYeah I got that brand the scobey kit . I'm about to join some ignition coil wires in my 11 Camry
ОтветитьNice little devices. Are you from New Jersey?
Ответитьif you don’t have the special heat gun, these don’t work. they melt away
ОтветитьIf i have to strip wires any way, im just gonna crimp it and use a lighter instead of carrying a heat gun everywhere.
ОтветитьWell I just found out about them about 3 years ago, they are the chit.
ОтветитьIs this ok to use on a/c?
ОтветитьSome flux on those wires would help that solder flow and penetrate the joint better.
ОтветитьThank you. Not sure why so many negative comments. The connectors i got from Home Depot were too bulky to fit in the extending pole for my new Chandelier. My electrician ive used for 10+ years was busy so he sent his cousin to help me install a new outlet but I forgot to tell him I also needed help with the chandelier. His cousin didnt have the right tools to do the chandelier as he thought he was only installing a new outlet. He tried to use my connectors (crimping them) to extend my new Chandelier and couldn't fit. I didn't want to call and bother them again so soon, so this looks like a very suitable solution that at least I wasn't aware of, so thank you. Maybe my connectors require heat too for a better fit, but these connectors with the solder look like a much better option.
ОтветитьI had some of these in my truck in Tucson AZ and when I went to use one I found all of them were melted, yes the solder. The solder specs show they can melt at 170 degrees F and Arizona State university did studies on closed vehicles in Arizona and found temps of 170F. Nuff said
ОтветитьMust've been the brand of these I used that wasn't good - the outside heat shrink melted and fell off and the solder did not melt at all
ОтветитьTks for the review however, I noticed at 3.24min mark the copper wire seemed to have penetrated out of the tubing. Such a connection may short or give a rude shock. 😳
ОтветитьQuestion, should or can you add flux to the wires before shrink wrapping
Ответить... well shoot. <.< I just bought a bunch of heat shrink.
ОтветитьWhat do you mean never solder again, when you are actually soldering too 😂. Only difference is that this is less efford for user.
ОтветитьSometimes they work, sometimes they don’t
ОтветитьThese are awesome, thanks for the vid!
Ответитьthese are garbage lol
ОтветитьBoth ways are fine
ОтветитьI call them junk. You need a solder paste to melt them i can pull them apart, and the solder dose not melt into the wires
ОтветитьI got to get me some of them
ОтветитьTry applying flux to the wire connection before sliding the ferrule onto the connection…
ОтветитьI’m sold on this. 👍
ОтветитьNah, a professional doesn’t have an issue with crimping a wire. Good try though
ОтветитьFrom a professional point of view.
These things are a bit scary. Why?
Well I know many people still do not understand how to correctly soder.
When sodering one heats the metal wire long enough so that when you hold your soder up to the wire it will melt. You should never melt the soder directly. This is what you do in your video. You rely on the soder getting hot enough to heat the wire. Problem is you will not heat the wire enough by actually heating the soder. Result is a very sketchy connection. Flux core soder is great. Different amount of metal mix can be found for desired soder job. Your wire cutters look awfull time to get a new one.
Looking at your pull appart pictures it proofs my point of poor soder job. You pulled the two strands appart at the soder joint. A good soder job will break the wire on one side but never at the soder joint. Your soder did not hold the two wires together and barely held to the wire to wire. Also joint will possible create a short and heat buildup at higher flow rate due to poor adhesion of soder.
Thank you!
ОтветитьMy brother watched your video and bought these. But when he got out his oxygen acetylene torch and started heating these it blew up his face removing his left eye. These connecters are dangerous
ОтветитьExcellent thanks
ОтветитьFirst I have seen these, I'm ordering them thank you for sharing this video 😊
ОтветитьDo Americans know that there is an L in solder?
ОтветитьI bought these on temu and I twisted the wires they worked great
Ответить👍
