I've always found this story fascinating since I read about it, and I always thought it would make a good movie. And then I find Takeshi Kitano is acting and directing in it? This is gonna be something to look forward to!

Can't wait until I can watch this. One of the greatest living filmmakers.

I saw this film in the theatre and it was truly amazing. The grotesqueness of the visual aspect was of course amazing, but there were many funny scenes and immoral jokes scattered throughout the absurd worldview. The film also contains some depictions of male-on-male sexuality, not out of consideration for the nagging LGBTQ crowd of recent years, but because in Japan at the time, male sexuality was the custom of the samurai.

It realistically depicts Japan's most brutal era. And it's funny. The presence of the actors is also wonderful. You'll enjoy it even more if you look up this era of Japanese history after watching it. I want to go to the theater and see it again.

The humour of takeshi kitano make me laugh along his appereance as hideyoshi .. this by far the best jidai geki movie i've seen in years

Man, Takeshi Kitano is a legend. From Takeshi's Castle to Battle Royale to Zatoichi. How accurate is this movie though? I assume it's gonna be just based on real events and there's gonna be a lot of "artistic expression" involved. The warring states period has always interested me. I'm wondering why Netflix hasn't made a mini-series about the three great unifiers.
