They are delusional and living in an alternate reality or universe or too stoned or burnt out to see the obvious. They see what they want to see. It was very obvious that Carney was extremely uncomfortable and irritated by Trump and in a pretty much indefensible position. AND! Even if the Liberal perception were true,what good would it do to insult Trump? Zip! But it could be more detrimental to Canada. This is the mentality you're trying to reach and deal with. Most of the prescribed actions suggested by some Canadians in retaliation to the tariffs seem hasty. They also display a heavy dose of TDS, specifically designed to arouse Canadian emotions to a feverish pitch.
That may not be the preferred method to deal with a perceived belligerence from an otherwise friendly neighbour. This is totally opposite to the more measured approach initially taken by Premier Smith of Alberta.
For instance, the resulting emotional responses to the highly provocative Alaska Highway proposal for instance, are understandable, since many Canadians sympathize with the US Democrat Party’s blind refusal to understand of Trump.
But many Americans missed Trump’s urgent message about America in 2016 because they disliked him, their own messenger.
Our leaders in the Canada should stand up for Canada, but not be too hasty about responding to President Trump, just because they dislike the man.
Let’s pause and consider our negotiating position before we prescribe drastic, highly emotive measures, especially long before the tariffs actually take effect.
