I love these little parts of the interview man
Royce is such a humble and intelligent person he never fails to influence and inspire me in any way, shape, or form
America should just drop the n word altogether, there's a lot more important problems in the community needed fixing, but the focus of a heated debate is often over a stupid word instead of helping people's life
ОтветитьRoyce is so smart 😍 I'll sure try to discover more of his music. I'm learning so much from him.
ОтветитьWhat is the F word?
ОтветитьWhat about the R word and terms like 'spazzing?' I really appreciate Royce's piece-by-piece withdrawal of the F word because we form patterns of language and it's difficult in all contexts when you're familiar with certain ways of expressing things.
But yeah I would love the R word to be next on at least someone's agenda if not the culture as a whole.
(Despite this, I recognise that some cultures don't see between the lines, if you will, and call things as they are without thinking too much)
This interview is really good
ОтветитьDude. Big props to Reggie for this interview. Such good questions and points!!!
ОтветитьBill Burr and Dave Chappelle!! good selection bro! those are my favorite comedian too.. I use the N word back home in Tunisia and I am not black, I am a north African Amazigh and Americans like to call us "sand n****rs" however when I am in the US I don't use it because every time I have to go though debates
ОтветитьPeople like Royce could stop sayin' the n-word today and their career or their rhyme process wouldn't change for nothin', cause he's a lyricist and he master words so good that he could literally replace it with everything or just stop to use it, but I doubt of these mumble rappers or certain artists who use the n-word instead of breathing lol
ОтветитьThis is great!
Ответить😮 a fellow french speaker. Ça fait plaisir de pas être tt seul 😁
ОтветитьI like how increasingly socially comfortable Reggie is, talking with Royce. And this video reminds me again how wise Royce is. On the part he was talking about the N-word, I heard Stevie Knight, another apt reactor, talked about how by using it as a term of endearment, the African American population is (I woudl assume, accidentally) alienating the Caucasian one. As a Vietnamese person myself I dont have much to say about the matter since I do not experience it first hand but I would love to see how this culminate and be resolved as I've been consciously censoring myself while singing the KDot's rap.
ОтветитьWhite boy here. FYI we know the N word is super off-limits and that we should never use it in order to be respectful of others. But you know when we alone in our car rapping along to our favorite songs, that word is gunna slip out here n there. I will not attempt a karaoke song without first looking up the lyrics so that I can remember to censor myself when that time comes.
ОтветитьWith the Kendrick thing it was his and the young woman’s fault bc Kendrick could have played another song or a censored version but the lady could have censored herself
ОтветитьWhaaaat you are Canadian and a French speaker ! Merci pour tout tes breakdowns ça m'a beaucoup aidé sur certaines chansons :) cheers
ОтветитьIm a huge fan of royce hes one of the best to ever do it, (maybe THE best) but I disagree wholly with censorship. And making it my responsibility to make everyone comfortable. If you arent ok with someone repeating what you say it is then your responsibility to censor yourself.
Ответить"My name is my name," I see what you did there Royce. Not sure if people caught that Marlo quote.
ОтветитьOnly so many ways to skin a cactus.
ОтветитьI love Royce man
Ответитьthe f word is awesom , I see profanity as a another chance to release anger before u do something stupid , but I'm 100% with the No N word vibe , this should be the trend today not 96
ОтветитьAs a white guy, if I’m not sacrificing cadence, I replace “nigga” with “fucka” that way it’s a quick back to back rhyme with “fuck” and “ah”
ОтветитьDetroit burried that "N" word I thought I watched a ceremony. What happened to that?
ОтветитьThis is probably the dopest interview I've ever seen man and you can tell Royce likes redgie cuz he feels confortable talking with him about anything. I was already a big fan of Royce but this interview is making my respect for him even higher. Good Job Redgie your content is great and I think rapers starting to know that. Maybe you can get Crooked to talk to you next, I'm pretty sure he will be down for that .
ОтветитьNot being able to say the “N” word is probably what pushed Em’s creativity with his writing. Never being able to have that easy out on a bar. If you take that word out of a Weezy album or any other Goats and half of their catalogs are incomplete...removing unnecessary words from your vocabulary can be a positive challenge and change to your thinking. I respect Royce for allowing conversation without being defiant. “A wise man knows a wise man knows nothing!” Dope!
ОтветитьRoyce is such a cerebral dude.
ОтветитьAs an African American, I've always had an aversion to the n word in general. I hope to see the usage of it eradicated one day.
ОтветитьNiggas treating one word more carefully than pandoras box
ОтветитьWe need an interview with Kxng crook, he is easy to reach on twitter bro :D
ОтветитьWhat the fuck?
ОтветитьThis was a very interesting episode.
Royce is usually really interesting to listen to, i really like that dude.
Keep it going Reggie
Royce should honestly be in Biggies spot when people talk about the best rappers to ever live.
ОтветитьThis is amazing, so happy to see you doing big things Reggie. God bless you, Brother 💖
ОтветитьSeems like em stopped saying it too he censored it on fall and hasn’t said it in a song since 2014 I believe
ОтветитьRoyce could reinvent the “n” word in a single rap, he’s on another level and rightly deserves the praise....
ОтветитьCongratulations on the Royce interview 👏 🙌
ОтветитьGet this guy where Vlad is, or was at, he deserves it way more than Vlad does.
ОтветитьNot lack there of royce. We are ur fans dude. We just do also expect so much from u to. So with that being said plz pop up in my car that would be
So fucking funny
Reggie is from Quebec???
ОтветитьWait are you a Quebecer?
Ответитьso you African Canada then
ОтветитьThis is a ridiculous conversation.
ОтветитьIm liking the matured version of Royce. Respect!
ОтветитьWhat up from t dot reggie
Ответитьi wrote this five years ago:
so im sittin here thinkin if i really want to go in to the sublte and yet at the same time stark differences between the word nigg(er) and nigg(a)
ok nutshell:
nigger- word used in derogatory reference used by mostly white people to speak about people of color that goes back to slavery. However it should be pointed out there are some blacks who use it in the same context with the same amount of vehemence and vitriol. Think Uncle Ruckus no relation.
nigga- simply put while its origins may be found in the black community, it is not solely used as a way to refer to other of color. it is in fact simply a a general reference for someone. anyone. think the word dude. the word has no color affiliated to it correct?
now thats the nutshell. and if people took the time to listen to how the two words were used in conversation and context. the differences would be abundantly clear.. but it been my observation that mostly white people can not stand that a word could have splintered to have such different meanings.
and there is blunt refusal in the white community to take the words as two different words.
nigger and nigga is not a matter of semantics. this is not potayto, potato
i remember tryin to explain this to a white person here on the book and he was pissed and was like " i dont accept that " fuck you mean you dont accept that. for years i have heard the same fuckin line. well why can they say it and i cant?" BECAUSE WE ARE LISTENING TO HOW YOURE FUCKIN USIN THE WORDS. oh wow. it just make me so mad because the people who say that shit are so full of themselves that they dont realize that context is a motherfucker. how you use words matter.. there a plent of white people who use nigga correctly . you know how many fuckin mexicans and asians use nigga? now ask yourself how many fights have you seen when blacks mexicans and asians socialize with each other over that one word. does no one realize that shit? that there is basic understanding between minorites that because i called i you nigga does not mean i think less of you. this understanding come from how it is heard used. not what color the person using it is. alright im done.
i’m a 45-year-old white woman and have been listening to rap pretty much since the beginning. i don’t know if it’s because i grew up in predominantly Black neighborhoods or not, but i have always self-censored the n-word when listening to and singing along with music, even when by myself. it’s just not a word that i have ever allowed in my vocabulary because i saw and heard it used so negatively in regards to my friends.
and damn... if Royce popped up out of my backseat, i’d have a heart attack, but i’d die happy 💜
Keep working on your interviews. You are incredibly sharp, Reggie, but I can tell as a fan you are a bit star struck and so with practice I think your interview technique will improve. I'm calling it now. Em will show up by episode 100.
ОтветитьA true lyricist doesn’t need either of those words.
ОтветитьYup, Kendrick set her up and that was fucked up. I meant when I sand along whatever you meant when you wrote it. So how could it be offensive in that context.
ОтветитьI can feel the respect! This is incridible! Im so so so proud of royce! Thank you so much!
Ответить
