Yea but then what am I supposed to do with all these plugins? Just leave’em in a folder? Absolutely not! I’m putting 7 compressors on a kick drum to justify my purchase.
ОтветитьMike deans the GOAT for saying this tho
ОтветитьEasy to say when the stems are really well produced

ОтветитьHe's right. if you know your drum kits and sounds really well, most of them are already compressed and processed.
ОтветитьAnd he has an expensive summing device and a secret masterchain. bro, You can't make the same sound like that
ОтветитьFacts
ОтветитьHe’s talking about mixing down stems sent by a band or an artist, right? I assume…
Ответитьwtf this guy gives anti-tipps…
Ответитьthanks mike
ОтветитьAndiamo🔥🔥🔥
Ответитьtrue, i usualy use 2-3 plugins, 2 reverbs on the melody, eq+compressor for the drums, end
ОтветитьFr, just pick your instruments exactly how you want them, though sometimes a little tweaking can be nice
Ответитьstop compressing drum samples lol they’ve been compressed 200 times already
ОтветитьBro sound like he smoke 50 cigars an hour
ОтветитьI've heard this from a couple places before, but I think it is good practice to still try to do something to the sounds. Because I have also heard the opposite from a Grammy award winning engineer who says not to skip the small sounds, and fx, make sure to compress and EQ them as well, but then at the same time says not to compress or EQ every sound. In my humble opinion, I think you should try to improve every sound in a mix, and if you find that one already seems to sound perfect, then you can decide then not to try to improve the sound. But usually there are ways to improve every sound in a mix. But I am a nobody with no grammys so should anyone take my advice? Probably not.
ОтветитьMike Dean says that when he's mixed some of the best albums ever....
ОтветитьMost I do is a drum bus and some light EQ work here in there
ОтветитьThe problem for us engineers is that while MOST professionals and producers of Mike’s generation are pre-mixing these sounds the overwhelming majority of the new generation are not and they don’t give a fuck to learn how to. Type beat makers are decimating the game.
ОтветитьI mean, what's the point of compressing a programmed beat? It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me, those sounds are already compressed af...unless you're creating them from scratch, by recording real drums
ОтветитьHousephone did it First
ОтветитьAll you fucks overthink it. *my interpretation of what mike said.
Ответитьy'all like "saaaame 💯" w some dead ass kicks n fucked up noise floors 😵💫
ОтветитьMaybe I want stuff to sound good 😅
Ответитьfinna start compressing every melody into stems
ОтветитьIts true! When I first started, i’d have 10+ plugins on my master bus and god knows how many plugins on my channels. But these days, i’ve only been using plugins for SOUND DESIGN! Get it right at the source!!!
ОтветитьExactly!!!!!!!! Mane I thought I was tripping but not tripping. When tryna explain stuff for these other producers or people in general. Bro you ain't gotta do all that you messing it up I made that to sound just like I made it in the beat I did not intend to make it sound robotic and weird efx. Mane some of stuff is cool for your own personal ear or taste. But you don't hear nothing on the radio with all that efx n extra snare rolls n every trick up your sleeve in every beat SMH . Mane come on with all this dumb ash. MF taking 2 hrs to tweak a sound while making a beat. I'm from the hood Memphis and I been makin hard Lil beats since 98. I started off with a DR 5 drum machine. Y'all just don't know how appreciative I am with all these sounds nowadays. That's why I'm naturally cold bcuz I understand exactly what UNC talking about. That's why I b zooming through shyt 😂 killing folks making beats. Keep it simple sometimes. Or really learn the ART of natural swag. Ya know it's a major difference 😂😂😂 I'm like UNC I'm leave that one alone 👍🏿💯💯💯
ОтветитьFacts, ima engineer and producer so i already make my beats mixing the sounds as i make
ОтветитьWhat video is this from? Much love from India 🇮🇳
ОтветитьYeah you don't have to overperfect everything it'll turn out ass and it kills the initial vibe.. You have to see through the concept and emotions that was put into the song when you're mixing, otherwise you're ruining it
ОтветитьProducers produce, mixers mix
ОтветитьTo all the ppl hating here, this video was make specifically to your niche of dummos and self made producers that put a plugin and doesn’t know tf is happening there and then mixes by your feelings 😂
ОтветитьHe's one of those producers who firmly stands on the idea that if something needs something, it needs something. And if it doesn't need something, then it doesn't. I fucks with Mike. You gotta develop an ear in order to know that though. You can't just not put shit on something if it clearly requires it. But you have to recognize it when it happens. Because there are times where it DOESN'T happen, and that's what he's talking about. And arrangement goes A LONG way too. If you have 3 instruments in the same frequency range, there's gonna be a trade off somewhere in the mix
ОтветитьIma put reverb on everything especially on the master
ОтветитьMESSAGE!
