LeVar Burton Interview: "Reading Rainbow" vs. "Star Trek"

I'm not American and never knew about your reading stuff, but you're one of my heros.

I have always had tremendous respect for LeVar and what he has instilled in me personally and that is just a love of reading and writing. Unfortunately reading from books has become somewhat of a lost art as kids today are so wrapped up in technology, OK granted it is a digital age and when used in education there's nothing wrong with that but it is time for parents to tell their kids, enough video games, go read a book on your laptop! I grew up in an age where nobody had a personal cell phone or a personal computer (the 1990's and early 2000's) and in that time you really came to appreciate the small things in life like a good book, its time for parents to bring their kids back to the basics in life!

I remember that at one point he was doing both shows consecutively. I distinctly remember an episode of Reading Rainbow where LeVar was in full "Star Trek" costume standing beside a wax figure of Geordi La Forge and asking his viewers if they could distinguish him from the model.

I’ve watched Reading Rainbow a few times in the recent past. Liked it, interesting show from what I remember, though I had and have Attention Deficit Disorder, so I kinda would flip around with my focus. Now I’ve seen Star Trek, forgot which TV show variant, but the one with LaVar Burton as the engineer with the funny glasses as he is blind from some incident. Which Star Trek show was that, the leader of ship Captain was kinda bald but not, oh and there was this kid on the ship too that got in trouble on another planet that had strict laws with evil consequences. Someone will know what I’m talking about.

I only know loved and adore La Var Burton on a tv show called Star Trek the next generation that’s my favorite science fiction tv show and I never grew up with his show called Reading Rainbow.

Mr. Rogers was always cool, but Mr. Burton cultivated my love of books$
