Hallo Danes! I believe WVA is a stronger rider today. The sprint had open area for room for sprinters. Tak for all you do. I have not known how TDF went without your dynamic presentation. Chapeau 🥂

Not a Cavendish fan - indeed, a little bit of me is glad he wasn't able to replicate Sam Bennett's win in a DQS green jersey - but was there some cheeky behaviour from Philipsen on the run-in? On the overhead, Philipsen seems to be awkwardly leaning an elbow on Cavendish, perhaps to prevent him getting WVA's wheel. With the draft, and then more decisively moving along the barrier, he could have taken it, but WVA was just going too fast to be overtaken. I'm going to keep how many TdF stage wins I have a secret.

The heading gives the impression of an evaluation. In reality, a lot of talk but no substance. Here is my evaluation without fluff: Cav would have won despite the elbowing and being boxed in. Cav would have won if he had not changed position to the right and back to the left. He had room to sneak through from the left.

No he didn’t choke, his team got drained by the great attacks from strong riders. Had he been positioned into the straight he likely would have won but he got blocked and had to chop his sprint, not intentionally just one of those things.34 wins, best sprinter ever to grace the TdF chapeau Mr Cavendish. Chapeau also to the monster and prodigious talent of Wout Van Aert awesome triple stage wins, something very special given the company he is now in,

Here is my take. Mike Teunissen did an outstanding job of leading out Wout Van Aert and dropping him off in the perfect spot. Van Aert was able to start his sprint from further out than Cavendish is normally capable of. While Van Aert may not have that short quick burst of speed that Cav has, his power enables him to sustain a sprint for far longer. We must remember that Cavendish needs a train in a circumstance such as this and the DQT train got jumbled up in the tunnel. Regardless of Cav's ultimate position in the field, he was not going to win today without his normal leadout.

Second, I cannot remember a Tour in recent years in which one rider was able to win a mountain stage, the ITT, and the final sprint on the Champs Elysees. Only Wout Van Aert can do that. He is one of the most versatile riders in the peloton. But I would hate to see him become a GC rider. And I doubt he would be happy about doing that either. I think that is what burnt Tom Dumoulin out. Van Aert would have to lose a lot of weight and would not have the freedom he currently does now.

WVA is a good cyclist. Cav lost the race once he lost the lead out train. It was upto hin to stay on the wheels of his lead out train he chose otherwise. Once ge was isolated it was easy to box him in and give him no room to pass

Cav could have gone for 35 wins on stage 19 that was surprising he had a better shot there, a stage with twice the distance. Any how if he does get called up next year 35 will come.

Pogacar and WVA need to win three stages a year for the next decade and 35 too will fall

The Tokyo TT has a lot of climbing. So I don't think Pippo is the favorite. Wout himself said that someone like Pogacar would be the favorite (but Pog might not do the TT at all?). So I think the favorites are Wout, Dennis, Roglic, and Doumolin.

Cav tried to go to the other side at first, if you watch you see it, it's only a second but I think it's the indecision for a second that cost him. Because then he couldn't get past wout

He just was not good enough on the day, if honest I think he should retire now. Next year if he comes back he won't win a stage as he will be 37 and all the other great sprinters will be back. I think Cav is amazing but time to stop. Green Jersey is amazing

That final sprint was great! And while it's a shame not seeing Cav take the all-time stage win record, there's definitely a bit of a fairytale element in the Belgian National Champion (WVA) being the one responsible for Eddy Merckx remaining on top (for one more year, at least).

Cav was definitely boxed in you can see him actually free wheeling for a few seconds behind WVA the line by the barriers would be ultra dangerous WVA has the power but not cavs speed and aero position the fact cav went for the intermediate shows he was feeling good and confident or he would have saved his legs I’m pretty sure cav would have won if he had the space

Cav didn't want to take the risk, he was boxed, he ain't Sagan who can race through tight spaces... what he did is for the best to maintain the green jersey and to avoid a crash... also he already matched Merckx records, that alone is already an awesome achievement

Cav could have easily beaten Van Aert but he got himself in the wrong position and ended up virtually blocked in. No doubt about it in my mind, he had the speed to win that sprint. But fair enough, he got himself in the wrong position.

Cavendish is old, arrogant and should retire. He's nothing and can't win without his train. Just a sprinter.. WVA is the most complete rider in the world, and little old cav doesn't even come at his knees.
