But if you have the money, the Canon 5D M3 is a great upgrade! It has many improvements over the M2. While maybe not huge, it sure is nice to have the best.

I love Canon zoom lenses... I am currently waiting for NEW (not rehashed 7D & 1Ds mark III) image sensors to appear in Canon DSLR cameras. Please, no more 18megapixel apsc or 18-22 megapixel full frame sensors. Stop milking your customers, Canon.

i think i meant x, y coordinates.. guess i was thinking of a camera that will provide accurate values for x/y positions, perspective, lighting (for recreating shots, but that will probably be its only function, & won't be of much use to digital camera users in general)..

Actually, only the entry level DSLRs are made of (some pretty durable) polycarbonate, but the more advanced are all made of extremely tough magnesium alloy. So I'm not sure what you're complaining about. The entry levels get plastic to be smaller, lighter, and cheaper (i.e. more affordable for people), while the higher ups are tougher, heavier, and more expensive for more extreme jobs (i.e. professionals).

To bad Canon is no longer combining their best technologies but instead artificially crippling many offerings with things like no 24p or no DPAF in 4K to protect other items in their lineup. This is how the best slip from the top to companies like Sony and Fujifilm who are innovating and offering all of their best tech in each model.
