I am rediscovering these guys.
I heard of them in the 80's and then they were gone from the college radio.
They never made it to corporate radio where I lived.
The more you get into them (I'm talking about the Al Anderson glory years) the more you realize just how f#cking great they were! On so many levels.

ОтветитьI've said it before and I'll say it again - NRBQ was without a doubt one of the tightest group of musicians ever assembled on planet Earth. Their music is so infectious, catchy and feel good, you can't stop listening to them. With fans like Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards and on and on, this band's following was immense on the back end and on the college circuit, even though they never made it "commercially". If you're a fan, you're lucky, and if you just discovered them, you're in for a wonderful ride.
ОтветитьNRBQ FAST OR SLOW IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!
ОтветитьIs Al singing on this one?
ОтветитьHey! It's N R B Q!!!
ОтветитьA Terry Adams masterpiece. This song has been making me feel good for a long time!
ОтветитьHow did they get that crazy sound?!?!.!?!
ОтветитьThe koto on this song takes it from being an excellent song to being a next-level, jaw-droppingly amazing song.
ОтветитьRelatively new to the catalog, but if BIG STAR partied a lil more. AMAZING!
ОтветитьI just had so much damn fun going to a large local bar near UConn in the mid- and late 70s. Back then you could slip into a bar with a fake ID you doctored up with just a pen. :) The bar, called Shaboo, could accomodate a hundred people or so in a large room with a stage. These guys played there several times and I never missed them. Such incredible energy, every one of them. God, what I would give to see them again. <sigh> All Music Guide wonders how Ridin' In My Car was not a hit single. So do I.
