2021 Dodge Durango R/T: Is This New R/T Better Than The Explorer ST???

My mom is getting this car this week

Trading my GT in for an RT in two weeks. The GT was a wonderful suv for the past two years. But I NEED that hemi.

The main thing that sold the rt over the st was that the explorer has so much plastic on the outside compared to the Durango

Always liked to look of these. Would like to get into one in a year or two. Hopefully production picks up. New models are sparse in Texas. AWD V8 SUV’s are a lot of fun.

@Ben Hardy, do you know if I can get a grand Cherokee 5.7 V8 without it being 4x4. Because I know that on the window stickers it says stuff can be replaced with original equipment. I was just wondering since off roading isn’t really my cup of tea but the grand Cherokee are beautiful IMO.

What is the huge difference in the RT and the SRT?

I'm 6'2" and leg room in the 3rd row is not an issue in the Durango. It has the best legroom amongst it's peers.

this is a SERIOUSLY nice SUV...been trying to find a "cool" tow vehicle that's not a blue collar pick up truck POS on wheels..... I love how this thing is sleek but is also setup for proper towing...

Does the sunroof come standard with the RT AWD Tow and Go package or do you have to add that?

Just picked up a 21 R/T with the Tow & Go package. I also test drove the Ford ST. Too much wind noise and I much prefer the Hemi.

looks like a 2003 model come on !! no virtual cockpit and plastic everywhere with fake carbon trim for that price !!

I have a 2020 GT fully loaded it was 62k. I want to trade it so bad for a rt that I regret not buying. I think it would be stupid though because mine runs good has no issues and there’s a speed limit on every road. I’m worried I’ll get one with a bunch of tech issues or something stupid. If I get something new I’ll just add a challenger 392 or a shakedown if I can get my hands on one.

Hey Ben, been going back and forth on dodge Durango rt and the explorer st what are the pros and cons of each vehicle and in your opinion is the better choice?

What about the 520w amp w sibwoofer Alpine system? Speakers rattle and not really good sound?

I rather have the V8 over the turbo 6 simply for the V8 roar especially after changing the the exhaust. The Durango RT just looks way better also.

I have almost this exact one but a 2024. I still dont know why they got rid of the fog lights in 24. Kind of seems like a backwards move.

Dodge dropped the ball.
If they would have had a 2nd row bench option on the R/T it would have been untouchable for families of 5 that need towing capabilities for a larger boat and room for camping gear. At the price point for the R/T Durango it would have been untouchable in its class
