Ballistic gel is not a 1:1 analog for flesh. Not by a long shot. Putting a block up to someone's side and comparing penetration is disingenuous at best.

A1 does not use a tungsten penetrantor despite common belief. Thar was the intent but the DOD realized it wpuld deplete their tungsten reserve. I encourage anyone here to watch Primary & Secondary with Chuck Pressburg

I load my own rounds. 55-70 grain. Usually with HPBT bullets as well as other various bullet profiles as they are available.

I use 60gr v max.

I smoke quarter inch ar500 plates with m193. It’s loaded hotter than m855 but is just a standard copper lead projectile. The extra powder makes it disgusting and it’s what they used in Vietnam. M855 I couldn’t even tell a difference in penetration

Well, I appreciate the upload, and I am not throwing shade. Please understand that I understand how text can come out the wrong way,
I am more interested in what that ammo will do versus materials for a review. At 7 yards, 55 grain,64,77 ect ect is absolutely lethal. This is just going into overkill
What do they do though a wall into an open door then hit? Does it keep going with enough energy to go through another wall and kill my neighbor?
Car doors? How accurate is it going through plate glass or an automotive windshield?
I know there can be or seem to be endless scenarios, but just break it down into a realistic situation if things go tits up.

I use a 62 grain I like them

in my 10.5 1:7 twist I use M855 for SHTF but most ranges don’t allow them so 55gr for target practice

62gr with enhanced penetrating steel core is the sweet spot. Mainly because that M855A1 is like $3 a round... I don't really care for HP rounds that much unless you're hitting soft targets but most people are wearing some type of armor these days, So having that steel penetrating core, is the way to go imo.

Currently testing IMI 77gr in my 12.5 and 18in because I can kinda afford to train with it at 90 cents per trigger pull. KINDA. Anything solid bronze or copper is too rich for my blood.

I've hunted whitetail and axis using the Barnes 70 gr. TSX. It's impressive without exaggeration. But the Barnes has gotten stupid expensive and is hard to find. AAC is loading with the 70 gr. TSX, but I don't know how good it is. Anyone tried it out real world? Not paper.
