I would chose the piano to the left. It has a richer fuller sound---at least on my speakers.
ОтветитьLeft. Having said that, I'm not sure Scarlatti isn't the best piece to showcase the left piano, as you really hear a difference between the two pianos when you play something more lyrical. I hope they choose the piano on the left.
ОтветитьI prefer the left, too. The repeats on single keys are more evenly articulated, and the arpeggios are more smooth and buttery.
Ответить---So?? Which piano did the German Society finally chose? And, what were the brands of the final two pianos??/? Left piano--Steinway?? Rignt--Mason Hamlin?
ОтветитьI pick the one on the right. The audio quality is completely horrible, so my caveat is that choosing one based on this video is not significantly more accurate than choosing one by merely looking at a photo. But to my ear, the volume of the loud and soft notes is all very similar in the left piano, which causes the melody to blend in with the harmony. The left instrument seems lacking dynamic range. On the right one, every single note is clear and the melody is more easily discernable.
Ответитьdefinitely left one
ОтветитьThe left one looks like a Bosendorfer (note the point in the lid shape and darker color for the iron frame). It sounds fuller in tone and has better bass response. I would pick that one. I'm not sure what the piano on the right is.
ОтветитьThe left piano is a Bosendorfer 214. The right piano is a Bluthner Model 4.
ОтветитьIt's a Bosendorfer "CS" isn't it? It looks like it has the dull finish. It's really hard for me to tell with the audio quality on this recording. But since it's a "German Society", they should get a German piano, and not an Austrian one! (Much as I'm a fan of Bosendorfer)
ОтветитьDefinitely the 2nd =)
Ответитьthe first, of course!!!
ОтветитьLeft. Which one did you choose??
ОтветитьHi Martha Argerich :)
ОтветитьLeft. Bosendorfer. The tone is fuller, it responds to the pianist's full range of power without "pinging" and losing tonal control.
ОтветитьThe right hand piano is a Bluthner, I believe. I saw this video when it was labelled better.
ОтветитьLEFT
ОтветитьIt's hard to feel much with the quality of the audio. Based on what little I know from both brands, the Bösendorfer on the left sounds "fuller" because it's supposed to be very clear in sound. But the very dark bass is lost in this recording and it sounds as bright as a random Steinway instead.
The Blüthner on the right may sound "smaller" because the bass is supposed to be round and warm instead of a crispy sharp sound. The trebles sound slightly smaller because they're supposed to be round and clear. But here again the personality is lost in the recording.
Based on the recording, I wouldn't know which one I would pick. However, based on my personal taste, I know I have a preference for Blüthner even if I like Bösendorfer too.
piano on the left is the one
ОтветитьBluthner. Soft sound.
ОтветитьUnhelpful miking-- sorry!
ОтветитьI like Bösendorfer more)
