Thank you for explaining the importance of using wood backing plates or spacers. The friction from that contact is a fortutate byproduct.

Nice short, and to the point. I typically use my wider jaws, don't remember their dia. but when closed they are as wide as the VM120, with the screw, a little wider (obviously). Thanks as always for sharing RIchard.

Thanks Richard - not using the faceplate with the standard chuck is an obvious issue now that you point it out. Ill add it to my list of things to do next time. Much happreciated as always.

I agree totally. As a production turner I use screw chucks on all kinds of work. In the States Crafts Supply USA sell some really well made ones.

I find I like a face plate better then a screw, for one I can adjust it if I need to, but it’s much more stable too

I have been using a 3-in-1 screw chuck for years and have never had a problem with anything coming off the chuck. Where do you get the colored backed sandpaper?

This is the first video of yours that I’ve come across, but I found it so informative, that I’ve decided to check out your page, many more videos, and have already subscribed 👍🏻 One thing, it would have been helpful for someone not very familiar with using screw chucks, and 3 in 1’s at all, to possibly see some different angles here and there, if only to let one picture what you are saying more clearly, as well as when you were changing up and talking about the 3 in 1 and the standard chucks (plus your collar).

But that’s just me being picky, and you may have been a mad genius by only shooting from that one angle, because now I’m going to watch several more of your videos to find what I’m looking for, and learn more from you than I would have in just one video! So good on you! Cheers!
