Man I wish I knew enough people with this game to trade recipes and resources to improve my town. I only know 2 people who even have interest in it, only 1 of them actually has the game. So I have to do everything the hard way by myself sadly.

You don't upgrade Nook's Cranny by spending a certain amount of Bells. It upgrades based on how many days has passed. It takes about a month.
