I know Jilly Kimmel will not read this. If he did, I'd hope he would understand that while the sentiment is correct, the way he approached it is not. If Kimmel really wants to reach Republicans who may be persuadable (not those who decided not to vote for Trump, those who are thinking of it may still be convinced otherwise), then this is probably not the way to go. Be honest, open, vulnerable, the way you did when discussing your son's condition. Do not mock Trump as many people will be repelled by it. Also, be humble with your tone and respect they may like Trump. Sounding exasperated will not work. Address their concerns and focus on the essentials: the lack of a health care plan was an excellent start. Mention the wall that wasn't really built and was paid by US taxpayers. Mention the border plan from Biden that the Republican party was willing to vote for until Trump ordered them not too (and then criticized the democrats for not having one). Mention the pandemic and how many people died in it. Mention the lack of knowledge he shows on multitude of subjects and his disregard of people who are experts (e.g. you would not ask your barber to perform open heart surgery and you wouldn't ask your surgeon to give you a ice haircut - experts!). Be always polite and considerate, otherwise you will not reach them.
I think this was a failed opportunity. A shame.
