You see I'm wanting to change my closet to be more elegant/whimsical so my timeless pieces would look like a chemise, stay/corset, skirts, blouses and some trousers. Wardrobe staples would honestly just be dresses that I layer on top of the timeless pieces. And I don't really incorporate trends in my outfits, since it doesn't really work nor do I see myself wearing it.

Basic timeless doesn't exist. Let's take denim as an example: 10 years ago skinny was all the rage, 20 years ago you'd say bootcut is a classic, 30 years ago it was straight or baggy, 40 years ago carrot jeans were a staple. Just wear what you love and stop giving a ****. None of the fits you showed is timeless. They're just basic, bland pieces in a current silhouette. If you wore ballet flats 3-4 years ago it was going to be considered outdated, not a classic. Wearing them now might feel "classic" but it's actually just a trend

I buy what I like outside of trends. I look for shapes that work for my body type and avoid details that will date something. Unless I want it to actually be vintage and look “dated” like my early 2000’s DB purse.

There is no such thing as "timeless" piece.

I buy outfits. I have 7 outfits for every day of the week. All contain 1 statement piece combined with basic pieces.

I don't understand the concept of "timeless basics" cause the style of basic jeans or a basic tee changes at least every 5 years or less. Neckline, sleeves, general fit (tight or loose fitting), jean style (high waisted, low waisted, skinny, wide leg, flair, light or dark wash) all change fairly quickly so nothing's really timeless. It's just on a longer trend cycle

Not everyone’s “timeless” and “staple pieces” are gonna like the same. They don’t always have to be basics
