"This seemingly ancient synthesizer..." and he's talking about a Prophet 5....
this really demonstrates the attitude a lot of people had towards pioneering analog synths like the Prophet during the 80's, when FM and digital was new and exciting. These are the days when buying a vintage analog synth was affordable, since they were often considered outdated by newer equipment. The fact he has to address how "ancient" the synth he's playing on looks makes this apparent. Really funny to think about now, in our age of analog nostalgia and re-releases of vintage synths, and modern synth collectors and insane prices.
"Variable sort of like adjustable roller skates.." nice!
ОтветитьThat Into Animation is Awesome!!!!
Ответитьcan anyone else hear some background speech in the right channel?
ОтветитьDid anyone listening in headphones notice the super quiet talking in the right ear? Can’t tell what they’re saying but it’s not the same as the presenter.
ОтветитьThis is GOLD
ОтветитьI'm new to synths and this is exactly what I needed for a basic rundown. The dated nature of this video makes it even better!
ОтветитьI feel like watching an obscure educational tape from the early 1980s reuploaded onto the internet is the only true way to learn synthesis
Ответить"sound is colour, I'm not just being poetic they are infact just different ends of the energy spectrum"
As much as I love this video... No. Sound is pressure waves which is not what light is. They are analogous to each other but not the same thing
I've never heard a pulse wave compared to "adjustable roller skates" before
Ответитьmost classic sound tutorial..great.
ОтветитьExcellent, the best simple explanation of how a synthesizer works and to operate on the net! Good Job, very helpful!
ОтветитьDude, the first decent tutorial i found about synthesis back in 2014 trying to learn how to produce edm. This takes me back ;-)
Ответитьso good
ОтветитьThe best
ОтветитьI am buying a Moog One can you help me. On Line Lesson zoom? I'd be grateful. Joe the Piano Man I repair pianos.
ОтветитьWhat synth is he demonstrating on?
ОтветитьVery informative, very clear and very comprehensive. The fact that it was made 30 years ago is irrelevant: marketing aside, the changes on the basic synthesis structures are close to 0, and the newest syntesis methods were implemented in the late 80s/early 90s...we still largely use subtractive synthesis paradigms. I recommend this series of videos to anyone new to synthesis or with the intention of deepen their knowledge. Is also nice that it's not edited like a Jet Li movie, and Dean Friedman is one of the best teachers you could ever find.
ОтветитьThe is the Bob Ross of Synthesis...sorry Bob Moog.
ОтветитьThe sound emitted drawn in a copy or a page is a predictable wave ,may be average .
ОтветитьSlide to slide
ОтветитьThis dude looks deep fried 🚬
ОтветитьExcellent video, thanks for uploading!
ОтветитьI'm here to learn. Been playing with synthesizers for two decades now not knowing what I'm even doing. I just turn knobs and cross fingers.
Ответить“And you can thank your lucky stars that we’re not as bright as we like to think we are”
ОтветитьThat shirt is SICK
ОтветитьAm I crazy or is there someone talking in the background? I keep hearing a muffled voice off camera.
ОтветитьWow this looks awesome, ive wanted to take synthesis more seriously!
ОтветитьIn the intro song it sounds like the synthesizer lead is cadencing in Russian language "Потому что я еврей я не с/могу уходить" (Because I am Jewish, I can't leave" Did anyone else hear who speaks Russian hear this? Could this composer be referencing during the 1980's Jews were often barred from leaving the Soviet Union?
Ответитьey itsa soawtoofwaef, it hasa lotta edge, just so ya know....
ey, im synthing here!
I didn't know Seth Meyers was into synths! (Close your eyes and listen, he sounds just like Seth Meyers)
ОтветитьEXCELLENT!
