There are great saints like Rumi, Ibn Arabi, Shams Tabrez, Bestami who have never in their lives considered to be some sort of sufi or anything like such but only their followers use such statements. They only considered themselves to be the Lover of God

His work is as good as diamonds with gold - multiply by the last unseen universe. When the knowledge is given to the Salik, the Salik has to find new space to park it. Once the Salik finds the parking, it is given to the Salik without condition, with more knowledge to take.😊
