Tom, since I’m early to the board let me share something quite interesting. Many years ago I identified a pattern of 18 year flat followed by 18 year up trend in spx. This 36 year cycle has repeated as far as I can see back in the market. The current up market I guess you would call a secular bull market should run from 2017 to about 2035 by this reckoning. Here’s what gets crazy. There is an astrological pattern identified pretty much at the dawn of civilization called the lunar standstill that occurs each 18.6 years. This signal coincided with the turning points in stock and commodity markets. Generally speaking the continuation of the bull market for a further 9.3 years does seem likely when considering the favorable demographics, and the modern economic theory of debt being practiced by Janet Yellen by her own declaration, which is that if repayment%<=gdp growth we are fine. In addition both candidates budget seems to go along with this since both call for large deficits, driving debt/gdp from 125% to 150 or 175 and beyond. It is quite plausible that we see an everything bubble continue for quite some time (2035) before the true beginning of a flat market (of 18.6 years).

I'm new to trading, and I've lost a good sum trying out strategies I found in online tutorials. I would sincerely appreciate any recommendations you have.
