MEDICAL (this is year 2024). There has been a severe shortage of doctors in the area. Hospitals: really, only get choice of one main big hospital system. The other smaller hospital has been in existence (for at least 70 and more years). For me, it was evident that the staff is hired and trained on practicing spiritual values-- like having Kindness, and Compassion for the patients they serve.. They need a rich benefactor: their equipment is OUTDATED but still working? {ei old enclosed MRI 😳}. They help a lot of the poor, and the place is hurting financially--- The PRO of this Hospital? Is the way they treat People. (I had to go for tests). The staff practice authentic kindness and compassion . ((I sincerely avoid doctors and medical.... (oh no?)))), but this smaller humane place makes it easier to be a sentient human-- and an elderly one at that.

The one Bigger more modern hospital (a network) seems to have the same negative complaints about the 'way' they treat the patients. (Comments were heard in the Community at large here in Wilmington, I was surprised to hear 'the same stories' described by different people, at different times). The Big hospital seems to hire their Staff with a shared core 'personality traits' --- cold and rude, and exclusionary in 'a bonded clique' -- negative vibes and neglectful of patients.
I went to an emergency in an ambulance for concussion-- intermittent pain streaks in my head were scary. I was confused and hurting. After a LONG wait without care, my observation was that the patients were merely used like they were 'props' on a stage --- The staff was about 'their dramas' (nasty negativity in the milieu). Felt like a TV setting for a 'drama series' made "just for them." Ugh!! "The conversations" they exchanged were raw nasty and unfriendly. (Negative!) To me, the 'atmosphere' felt in a medical place (and the way you are treated as a person) is an important PART of the Healing.
A year later: My church had a Health Fair to benefit the wider Community. This Big hospital sent some of their nursing staff to represent them: (to my shock) the SAME 'personality traits' of coldness, rudeness, exclusivity was EVIDENT. (The Big hospital employs what they Value in their (for profit) organization -- To me it's obvious that Caring and Kindness is NOT on their list of looked-for virtues when they consider a Hire!!)

Personally, though I live in Wilmington, I may start looking for establishing 'medical care' in the nearby States of Pennsylvania or Maryland.
(I'm almost 70-- Moved here 2+ years ago.) I am still surprised, that there is such a shortage of doctors. As I moved here, I found MANY Physicians were (themselves) retiring!! Delaware needs to attract some talent here, in the Medical areas.
State of Delaware is reported (2024) as #2 in USA for relocating in Retirement. Medically they are in a shortage of medical providers (doctors!!!--- unless you have wealth to hire a Concierge Doc).
And my experiences (secular Big hospital, and workers at independent stand-alone medical testing businesses) cause me to stay away.
AGAIN, I didn't like the way I saw Other Seniors handled!!! (as well as myself). Awful. (I even walked across the waiting area, and apologized TO a certain senior after I saw the condescending way she was talked to by the nurse. NO excuse-- NONE!!)
Delaware medical care industry NEEDS better focus on the Senior Population. Delaware needs to attract SKILLED (honest) workers. One of the newer doctors in this area represented by Big hospital was 'caught' defrauding my Medicare insurance-- charged me for services I never received! (Good on the accountants for Medicare!!! WHY start out your medical career doing that??? Of little conscience: Corrupt)!!!
Our Seniors are a Wisdom Population that continues to add Value to this Community, and places around the United States: deserving to be treated with kindness, honesty, and Trusting SKILLED Care.
