In season 1, either sang-woo or sae byeok win, sang-woo is smarter but sae byeok can outsmart him and kill him first, shes just more unpredictable, and knowing sang-woo, he would go to 17 first, and sae byeok didnt trust sang-woo, no gi-hun, she would be more on guard

Simple answer: A new player 456 is chosen and they get the main character plot. Same acting but a different person.

Another BIG and important change would be that Jun-ho´s entire storyline, him infiltrating the Squid Game by disguising himself as a pink worker to find out what happened to his missing brother, would not happen without Gi-hun.

Jun-ho entered the island by following Gi-hun as he went into that car and then he sneaked under the truck he was in. Without Gi-hun, we couldn´t get Jun-ho´s perspective on what happens behind the scenes of these illicit death games (how the pink workers work and live, the Frontman, the game files, the VIPs etc.). Jun-ho´s storyline helps to establish the world within Squid Game much more than the show could do if we only followed the players.

If this happened, this would’ve gave a more interesting twist of Squid Game, because we wouldn’t know who would win Squid Game and it would be random, since Gi-Hun didn’t join the games but he is still the main character then a new 456 would replace Gi-Hun and give it a more random winner than the main character.

Episode 1: Red light, Green Light

This episode will show us how to play the game “Squid Game” and how Gi-hun entered the games. We also see Gi-hun’s daughter. Without this, maybe 456 can be a background character, and 067 or 218 can be the main characters. We also werent able to see Ga-young, since thats Gi Huns daughter. When the salesman approuches him, gi hun earns money, and getting slapped. But since gi hun might be a background character if he wasnt here, that entire 7 minutes of that episode will be deleted, since Gi Hun is no longer the main character. The person salesman slaps could be Sae-byeok or Sang-woo. We also will not see Sang-woos mom talking to Gi hun and Gi hun giving the cat some food. Now that we entered the game, Red light, Green light. We will not see Gi-hun break up the fight of Deok-su and Sae-byeok. Gi hun will probably not live. Since the new player 456 is a background character, he can die. If he didnt, they would have to go through voting. Player 456 will choose Ｏ since its not the Gi Hun trying to stop the games. They leave, and the old man will never see gi hun.
