History has shown that Howard turned the coalition from a centre right liberal party into a hard right conservative one. Even Malcolm Fraser turned his back on the liberals he once led until finally cancelling his membership once Abbott became party leader

Love seeing the smirk wiped off Keatings’ face.
Refreshing to see a balanced debate, instead of the media giving the socialist Left a dream run.

Random fact about this: Howard can be seen twitching his shoulder at various points during this. A kind of nervous tick. In his memoirs he states that one of his sons informed him of this and he thus didn't do it in the next debate.

Idiots then elected the worst prime minister in Australian history. John Howard. And yes I did say that. Ushered in highest ever personal debt levels, and unaffordable housing.. well done.

Ah! At the end Johnny became the 2nd longest serving PM and Keating became the answer to the question nobody asked. Reality is that Keating surfed on a legend like Bob Hawke until he knifed him. Keating has no personal achievement other than "It is the recession we had to have".

How on earth did people fall for the little honest John act? Even though Keating seems tired and worn down by this stage, he still ran rings around Howard on the debate issues. Keating was right too, Howard was going to “tippy toe into office and give us the bad news later”.

Total support of Medicare my arse Howard you liar. Keating was right. He had no interest in supporting people only those who benefit the Liberal Party. He conned a great deal of people for many years and the country is poorer for it because of it. He created the selfish mindset amongst people and businesses to think of yourselves first before all others. We still see the legacy of his reign to this day with the Anti vaxxers and anti lockdown movements.

.. 1.5 billion in surplus within 3 years had keating won, because as he said he would have raised 9.5 billion from his combined policy commitments over 4 years. that covers the so called national deficit he left which was 8 billion.

In his opening statement, Howard mentions "unfair dismissal laws" discouraging buisinesses from hiring more staff (because they won't be able to sack them at the drop of a hat). So, right out the gate he shows who he actually stands with: not workers, but aspirational buisiness owners whom are already well-off but would like to be MORE well-off.
