Richard Marcinko, the first commander (and creator) of Seal Team Six was an advisor on this movie. That's why this movie as well as "Navy Seals" contain some of the most authentic Navy Seal sequences ever filmed. And, yes, I believe the character played by Sean Connery was supposed to be the "actual" James Bond. It's the only thing that makes sense. Also, Michael Biehn is one of the most underrated action movie actors of the 80s and 90s.

Fun fact: in Germany it's not illegal to try (or succeed) to escape from jail/ prison. It is considered a person's natural urge for freedom and therefore cannot be punished. So, no added punishment when someone gets recaptured, only for crimes one might have been committed whilst out.

As for this movie: I love it and Sean Connery is always a treat 🥰

This movie was awesome in the theater. I must say I like it even more now with the James Bond theory, and it totally makes sense.

The guy who played Mr Henderson should have been nominated for an Academy Award, it's hard to act genuinely terrified. It's gut-wrenching listening to him begging Mason and Goodspeed.

The underwater shot of the divers with their propeller things, were animatronic miniature puppets. Unbelievable for a 3 second shot.

You'd think James Bond would be smart enough to not waste time with the fire-tunnel on his way out when he can just walk through the door right next to it.

Always love you two and your reactions. And indeed i think this is a full action packed bond movie. Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage were great together in this movie, both great actors. And dont forget Ed Harris. The car chasing was insane, also the explosions (yep, it's Michael Bay).

Saw this movie singe it came out at least 10 times but the green-smoke scene at the end still gives me goosebumps. The tension and drama is directed Perfectly. A lost art in modern movies.

Fun not to think about: Why did Mason need to memorize the rolling fire wheels when he just could take the door he just opened from the inside to the outside?

Damn! That is some blast from the past. Pure 90s cheese, ridiculous plot, overtop action, whacky characters and peak Nicholas Cage. Fun times. I hope you will watch Con Air too.

For me this the only good Michael Bay movie.
