I only played the most recent game patch but items have not been replaceable, which is a bit unfortunate but I guess that removes the complexity of what happens to the upgrade money you put into it if they allowed item swapping. I think a compromise would be that you lose the upgrade money if you want to swap to a new item, or maybe the item you swap out gets lost (can't re-equip it), or even just allowing a single item swap per run would be nice. In your run I probably would have left the archers without an item at least until you found out what the next one was in case it was ring of command, or until you hit a level where you felt like not using the war hammer was a massive hindrance before giving it to the archers. From your previous runs it seems like ring of command on archers is SO strong as it massively increases how many enemies you can knock off or kill on the boats before they land plus it makes the volley stronger. I was hoping you could get that combo on this run!
