$22 for half a dozen limes is INSANE. I'd probably just have to say goodbye to margaritas for a while ha.
ОтветитьLove the Penicillin as I adore peated scotch and Laphroaig 10 is bliss!! 🙂
Ответить👏👏👏
🎩🎩🎩
21 AUD (14 USD) is crazy for 6 limes! Steve, you gotta make super juice at those prices!
ОтветитьDude. Get a lime tree. That’s what I did.
ОтветитьI often make "single serving" amounts of honey syrup (or simple, too...) with a shot glass and 10ish seconds in the microwave....stir and add to your tin etc.
ОтветитьMy wife made the Brown Derby a few nights ago. We too found it to be severely lacking acid.
ОтветитьA passable alternative to limes if it is prohibitively expensive, is to make superjuice with lime acid levels (adding malic acid) with lemon peel and juice.
Ответитьwhat do you think about using different kinds of honey for cocktails? i am a big honey enjoyer and have 50 plus different types and i can tell you they are all very different from each other.
ОтветитьThe medicina latina has gotta be one of my favorites - the agave penicillin!
ОтветитьLove the three vids! Really enjoyed that you didn’t do 15 all at once as this makes the experimentation more manageable. I will do the Bee’s Knees / Gold Rush combo when we have friends over because of their different palettes and ease of just switching out the base alcohol. All that said, I think vid 2 peaked my interest the most.
ОтветитьLemon & Honey tastes like cough drops to me
ОтветитьI think you left out the peated scotch float in the Penicillin
Ответить"Accidently made" 👌
ОтветитьPennington Daquiri is a good one.
Ответить21 dollarydoos!?!?! How???
ОтветитьSteve! You could carve a turkey with that knife! Be careful.
ОтветитьNot a honey cocktail but I recently tried the “Sunflower”( from your You Tube) enjoyed that one. I did try the Gold Rush - also very tasty. ❤
Ответить😳😳I hate to pay $1 per imported lime in Canada - you got that beat! 🍋🟩
ОтветитьBees Knees for a substitute of honey syrup I use Barenjager honey liqueur and rim the top of the glass with honey. 😊
ОтветитьYou triggered me with the price of limes in Australia right now! $3 each at the grocer I usually go to at the moment. Can't even find them in some of the supermarkets
ОтветитьLOL I was on my second penicillin when i came upon this video. I really like using hot honey when i make penicillins.
ОтветитьBrown Derby cocktail form me!
ОтветитьWhy the citrus so expensive down under?? Sorry, dumb American here.
ОтветитьI want to try the honey bee. Bees knees is a lovely drink.
ОтветитьLime and Rum, Lime and Honey; it's gotta bee the Honey Bee that I go to. Thanks for your sacrifice getting those crazy expensive limes for the video! Cheers
ОтветитьGotta say the Gold Rush is one of my favorites as well. I use your 3-1 honey syrup mixture with local honey from my area. It’s great. I use Buffalo Trace, and I know you’ll probably say whatever you prefer is good as far as bourbon goes. I’m curious as to what is your favorite bourbon to use in your Gold Rush?
ОтветитьAmazing personality for presenting his offerings 👏🙏💙
ОтветитьCanchanchara is my fav honey cocktail
ОтветитьI paid 6 €/kg for lime here in Finland just a moment ago, so your 21 €/kg is absolutely ridiculous.
ОтветитьHa Ha. Thought you missed out adding the second Whiskey to the shaker after talking about it! Loves all the cocktails you showed.
ОтветитьI guess Penicillin is my favourite, but I find it a bit hard to be consistent regarding the balance.
I don’t drink enough (or entertain guests enough) to bother bottling ginger syrup, so I usually end up just muddling ginger and add honey syrup, which sort of is a hit and miss for me.
$21 for 6 limes, shit a brick. I think it's a lemon, malic acid and green food colouring job 😂
ОтветитьDid I create something new? Used a Southside template: 5 - 7 mint leaves, 3/4 oz honey syrup (I like the triple syrup, equal parts honey syrup, agave & simple syrup), 3/4 oz lemon juice, 2 oz Laird's Apple. Shake & double strain into a chilled coupe. garnish with floating mint leaf.
ОтветитьBees Knees for the win here!
ОтветитьLove the Penicillin. It really grew on me over time. Since I don't really need ginger syrup for anything else, I do it with freshly muddled ginger and a tiny bit more of honey sirup. Works too.
Maybe worth mentioning, the honey itself leaves a lot of room for experimenting in all these cocktails. Different kinds of honey bring so diverse and unique flavours with them, they can give the cocktail a complete spin. I have been using a thyme/pine honey lately. It's fun (and tasty) to play around with such twists.
Might I suggest the Heaven is a Place/This is the Place (Imbibe’s Top 75 cocktails 2016)?
ОтветитьGold Rusher which seems to be in between a Gold Rush & a Penicillin with the addition of Fernet. Party Line which is similar to a Siesta & Naked and Famous. Canchanchara and Brazuca Remedy are two Cachaça cocktails but the later has only one bar spoon of honey syrup so it might not come through enough to be a honey cocktail. All four are dern good, and I'm always finding more from you and others who keep pulling back the veil and showing us something we haven't seen before. Cheers!
ОтветитьHi Steve, what a fun video! I always make my honey syrup 3:1 in the jigger pre mixing. The opposite of making more and keeping for a year!
Nick from York
Try adding habanero bitters to your Bees Knees, it is incredible. Honey + Spice go so well together!
ОтветитьThe Gold Rush.. so good 🤤🍯
ОтветитьI love bees knees. I just noticed you have a mat under where you make cocktails. I didn’t know about those. I never knew what to do when I turned the jigger over and then got the counter wet. Any tips in choosing one?
ОтветитьNice video! My favorite honey cocktail is a "Bee on an Elderflower." It has St. Germain and prosecco in it. It adds variety as I try to use up my honey syrup.
ОтветитьGlad you're paying attention to the grapefruit-juice-and-heart-meds thing, Steve! My prescriptions and I hear you! ^_^ Keep up the good work, eh?
ОтветитьGrapefruit juice can mess with birth control, statins, etc. etc. I am glad you mentioned it! So many people don't know and at least here in the U.S. it isn't communicated well by doctors.
ОтветитьI've made a Bee's Knees with lavender bitters. It was fantastic
ОтветитьMy favorite honey cocktail is the Earl Gray Martini! In a way it’s an evolution on the bees knees.
ОтветитьWhat is your favourite honey cocktail? 🍯
