Galarraga deserves the perfect game, but regardless, I remember this than Phillip Humber's perfect game and others.
ОтветитьWhat pisses me off are the people who insist that MLB not change this to a perfect game. They all say the same thing: "Then we'd have to go back and review every single game ever played!" Says who? Where the f**k is that written?
Just this game. Leave all the others alone, but change this one. Everyone knows what happened.
Jim Joyce will always be remembered for this blown call. A blown legacy.
ОтветитьGalarraga and Joyce deserve a ton of credit for how they handled the aftermath. Joyce admitted his mistake, and Galarraga accepted his apology, like two grown-ass men. It's only baseball
ОтветитьIt was an "extra perfect" game. 28 up, 28 down.
ОтветитьNot saying he was right, but I think the call becomes more understandable when you see how the ball moved in Gallaraga's glove, where he kind of has to snap his glove to pull it in from the initial snow cone catch. As Jimmy says, he must have thought he didn't have control of the ball when he stepped on the base. These things happen so fast. I actually feel worse for Joyce than Gallaraga at this point, since he beat himself up over it so much.
ОтветитьScott Harris is a clown
ОтветитьSo that's it if that one person says the runner is safe than they are? Seems like it could be easily changed.
ОтветитьThat ump’s a supervillain. Congrats on the perfect game.
Ответитьump should get an permanent "unperfect game" tag on his record
ОтветитьWas jim joyce the umpire that day😮😮😢?
Ответить28 outs lol
ОтветитьThat really sucks bad call straight up. That catch by the center feilder was awsome
ОтветитьWe all make mistakes but thst ump blew a speacial moment in baseball for sure
ОтветитьThis moment killed all enjoyment of baseball for me
ОтветитьDamm whoever reactivated this in my feed 😠 Now I'm back to wondering what evil or deviousness might exist in Joyce's character that would cause him to correctly call plays at 1B far closer than that one and then see something different on that obvious out. Perhaps he didn't just want to be the ump who called the final out in a perfect game, but instead the ump who blew up a perfect game on the final out.
Ответить“What do you celebrate now?”
Not officially a perfect game, but it’s still a complete game shutout.
The catch to get that first out was insane. The catch but also the amount of tracking he had to do to even get to it
ОтветитьI'll say it again....under the circumstances this was maybe the worst missed call in the history of professional American sports.
ОтветитьBase runner should’ve manned up and admitted he was out but his pride said he didn’t want to be the known as the last out. POS! He admitted that sentiment years later. And crazy part is no one remembers his name.
ОтветитьBest Jim Joyce call ever
ОтветитьI feel bad for Armando, but he's honestly more famous because of the blown call and I think he got a lot of endorsements/freebies because of it. This would be a pretty cool 30 for 30 if they ever decide to do it
ОтветитьThe icing on the cake is how Galarraga just took it in stride. After all of the arguments with umpires that we see on this channel, can you imagine how classy you have to be to just offer a little smile, go back to the mound, and get your 28th straight out? Probably the most legendary example of good sportsmanship ever recorded.
ОтветитьBut because of the mistake, everyone remembered Galarraga pitched a perfect game and he is a decent man.
ОтветитьJustice for Gallaraga
ОтветитьMLB just automate your umpires. They suck
ОтветитьToday being the 15 year anniversary of the "imperfect game" (which is one of its many nicknames) led me here! Even as an 11-year-old boy that didn't know much about baseball beyond rooting for the Yankees, I was baffled by what happened. I think I found out about it through SportsCenter. I know I wasn't watching the game when it was airing live. I was too impatient to do something like that back then. 🤓➡️😅

Glad Andres Galarraga bounced back after his stint with the cardinals at 1st base in the early 90s.
ОтветитьYou know you f’d up when the long time vet Miguel Cabrera gives you shit
ОтветитьIf baseball was a classy game, the baserunner, who knew he was out would have walked off the field. He clearly turns to congratulate the perfect game and than see the umps call. Should have walked off the field.
ОтветитьThis is like watching someone accidently destroy a winning powerball jackpot ticket
ОтветитьHas the MLB reversed the ruling yet?
ОтветитьThis is terrible… Did they not have a challenge left???
ОтветитьThere has never been a perfect game pitched in the history of baseball. EVER.
A perfect game consists of a pitcher facing 27 batters, throwing 81 pitches, and recording 27 strikeouts.
Since no pitcher has ever struck out more than 20 batters in a game, no one can ever say that there has been a perfect game pitched in the entire history of baseball.
Ever.
Period.
End of discussion.
Jim Joyces Wikipedia page lets everyone know that’s “best known” for his incorrect call in this game.
ОтветитьThey should change it. No one would be more in favor up it than the ump. He’s been upset about this for years. Gallaraga was so cool about it. In my eyes, it’s the 28 out perfecto
ОтветитьOld umpires need to retire
ОтветитьJim Cigarettes Leyland
ОтветитьIt is not even close
ОтветитьThis was one of the worst moments in the history of american sports. A real achievement stolen
ОтветитьNever forget.
ОтветитьReminds me of the Toledo Rockets Syracuse game. Syracuse missed the game winning field goal. Refs called it good, replay showed the Orange missed it. Still gave the win to Syracuse. Gambling fks up every sport.
ОтветитьHe got the next batter out. No replay then. The commissioner can easily correct this. No asterisk needed. DO THE RIGHT THING MLB!
ОтветитьIt's funny, it became more of a celebrated feat because of the drama. I mean no one would really remember galarragas perfect game now if not for this
ОтветитьThis is all Miggys fault tbh lol
ОтветитьHe didn't have control for real
ОтветитьThe reason MLB will never overturn this is because, for one, The Cardinals would have a gripe from 1985, for starters.
ОтветитьUmps are ruining the game so bad.
ОтветитьTired of people not blaming Miggy for the Gallaraga play. If he stays put at first base, the second basemen throws out the runner by 20 feet.
