Interesting. The Jewish idea of Satan or "the adversary" is very close to that of the ancient Sumerians. In that view, Satan isnt "evil" per se, he does his job of acting as a prosecutor. His JOB is to tempt and test people. That's his purpose. This view means he isn't evil incarnate or hateful. He's doing his job as he was created to do.

Well I have som Jewish friends and they say that if you gather 10 Jews on a topic there will be 11 opinions. But I would say that there cannot be any kind of reincarnation in Jewish philosophy based on that true revelation can never be contradicted by another true revelation. It seems to me that the non-Messianic Jews at some point started to set aside Satan and his demons their rebellion, because that rebellion is practically the whole reason why the coming of Christ was necessary. God didn't make an adversary to tempt us, to test us to see our loyalty to him. He knows our hearts. He gives all of his creation free will and that's why Satan exists.

So what the rabbi is saying is that nothing else has freewill, and that lucifer's rebellion was a test of loyalty. I would say that angels also have freewill, as in freewill is not unique to people. What is unique to people is that we are the only created beings that bridge between spirit and flesh. This still fits everything stated in the Bible (or Torah) as far as I can tell and explains the fall better. (How could the third even question their loyalty if they didn't have freewill)

The OT is full of accounts of the Jewish people straying from God..they constantly follow their own ways, and now..if what this rabbi is saying is true..having that oral tradition, that competes with the words of the prophets, makes more sense..keep your traditions, I’ll keep to the book

Of course you know, Michael, Catholic teaching is that once those angelic creatures that sided with God, made the their choice to follow God, they lost free will. I could be wrong but I think this is due to them having the beatific vision as a reward, and in that state the will becomes completely aligned with the will of God.

I'm not a Catholic or a Jew but rather a Christian. I'd need to study this conversation a lot but have an inclination that the outcomes of this conversation are flawed. Do Jews really believe in reincarnation? There is definitely a spiritual fight going on since the fall. Demons are real, demonic activity and the losing side of spiritual warfare is prevailing right now.

In the Bible if you ever really listen to how angels are discribed or how they move reminds me of the UFO sightings. Move up down backwards forwards change direction at a moments noticed. So demons are the fallen angels that fell when Satan was cast out they are powerful beings. They definitely love to play with people's minds so I lean more towards something supernatural rather than a alien or a ET. That's just me though everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Well, in some ways yes, there is a distinction between man and animals, however, chariots of fire are mentioned in the Old Testament. What pulls chariots? Horses. Also in Isaiah it establishes when things are set right again that the predacious animals will have a non threatening relationship with the herbivorous animals, laying down beside them. Free will: Yes, humans have it, but we also must ask God's permission. We are not God. We are made in His image, but we are NOT creation's exemption. The oceans obey Him, the stars, Satan must get permission from God when it comes to humans and God also requires consequences for our sinful decisions. To answer the other question, no a female cannot be a rabbi, that is its own "jewish" religion that was formed because liberal Jews don't like tradition and conservative values, they practice liberalism and just reject all the jewish texts. They pick and choose what they like.

He could’ve given a better answer on reincarnation. It’s not something mentioned anywhere in the Old Testament, nowhere in the Mishna, and nowhere in the entire vast Talmud. Saadia Gaon is probably the first Jewish source expressly discussing the idea and he categorically rules it out and says it comes from “people who think of themselves as jews”. From the writings of the Ramban we see that he regarded the idea as one of the torah secrets not to be divulged to the masses and he only hints to it. The idea gained foothold thought through the Ari’zal and his kaballah teaching and is now pretty much accepted doctrine.

I grew up Christian. I'm finding more inspiration from listening to Jewish rabbis than Christian pastors. They told us that the most important thing was having faith but Judaism teaches that it's how we live our lives. I think back to knowing people who so-called had faith but were terrible. I feel like I'm becoming a Jew without officially becoming a Jew. I won't be converting but just using the lessons in my life. I'm still a bacon cheeseburger eating gentile.
