Hi Christy! I’ve taken a unit on the gothic a couple of years ago. If you would like I can send you some of the content to help with your project & world building. I think I’ve got things on Australian Gothic and The Gothic.

funny.. I was pretty sure Spiegeltent comes from the German word "Spiegel" which means mirror, after a quick Google search I found out that I wasn't too far off: "A spiegeltent (Dutch for "mirror tent", from spiegel+tent) is a large travelling tent, constructed from wood and canvas and decorated with mirrors and stained glass". Originally built in Belgium 😊

I swear I hear "Smeagol ten" every time you say Spiegeltent. Ugh, my brain 😅😂

Editing is writing but it's not pulling out that initial thread of story. So I don't count it as writing in the same way in such a situation as doing a vlog about "Writing using the habits of Stephen King" ....because you don't have to sit there and wonder what happens next, because you have the draft there

hey :) if you want to someday i would really really love a lil notebook tour because i'm a blood true gardener who wouldn't mind being a bit more of an architect sometimes, but i genuinely have no idea how.

What is your desk set up with the monitors? Can you talk through that? I notice you have one set at portrait style and the other normal (landscape) - do you find that helps?

I love it when authors talk about second and third manuscripts. Right now I'm researching and planning the second draft of my horror/dark fantasy novel and I'm enjoying the process even more than writing the first draft. I know the characters a lot more, I know how the story is going to develop and most importantly: Why I want to write it. Sure, writing a first draft can be scary and exciting, you're still just meeting the world that you've created and it's always going to be a little bit weak compared to the evolution of the tale; but in the second draft I find I'm a lot more attached to the characters and overall, writing improves a lot more. Plus, the feeling of nostalgia and missing that world after letting it rest is just extremely powerfull in order to write it better.

It's so refreshing hearing that you mix typing and writing and that the process of writing a first draft does change a lot. I think the mystery of writing sometimes makes things seem like someone just writes a masterpiece outright.
