Even though I have a degree in business, I was passed over many times. The reason is I don't brown nose and i don't kiss ass. Maybe that's my downfall but at least I can hold my head up. Promotions should be based on experience and job performance and not how many times you compliment the boss.

There's another reason why people get passed over for a promotion: they're too good in the position that they are already in. Why promote them to replace them with someone else? It happens all the time in many fields. Hence the mentality in Office Space: do the bare minimum or do nothing, but pretend you're working.

Before you totally rearrange your brain and go through months or years of cognitive behavioral therapy. Ask yourself, "Is it worth the effort and how much extra money will you get once you've changed who you are."
