What Happened to KARD - The Biggest Kpop Group Korea Never Heard Of

I remember my pastor once said, 'I am only recognize when I go out to preach'. Sadly this is the problem with my country.

The local musicians' song are only given an hour of air time once a week & it's a chart program. Meaning they only play the top 3 & new releases songs in full while the rest are snippet.

And it your song does win any oversea awards, you will never be invited to perform on TV.

I have know musician who have written songs for Hong Kong 4 Heavenly Kings but but are unknown back home.

This is truly one instances where the grass is greener on the other side.

I’m not the biggest Kard fan, but I do like some of their songs and the Latin reggaetón vibes it has. No wonder they’re popular overseas! Especially in South America!

I'm Korean and i want to explain about KARD (Sorry my english is very poor).

1. DSP is no more big company since ex-CEO LEE HOYEON resign from management (He died after brain disease).
But lately DSP join to RBW (MAMAMOO).
2. co-ed Group is not populer in Korea, because fans don't like and fandom is not strong enough in Korea.
3. Music Show Score = Album sales + Chart in Korea + Vote + etc.
Yes, KARD has many International Fans, but they don't buy many albums. every their albums just sold +/- 2,000 copies in the first week.
(ex : Dreamcatcher got 1st win in this comeback, because they sold 85,100 copies in the first week + Vote from international).
4. Because of low sales of their albums, DSP made a choice to KARD go to Global Tour to earn money than promote in Korea.

So if RBW promote them in Korean Market better than DSP + you buy their album = maybe KARD become more populer and have chance to 1st win.

All of their songs are sooo good. I pray and hope they have recognition in Korea and have wins in music shows. 🙏🙏

I didnt know they are 3rd gen group. There are a lot of great 3rd gen groups and K.A.R.D is one of them.

Actually, the last coed group was Coed School back in 2010. But they ended up splitting up to two different groups.

i love how their entertainment treat them I mean with all the timings and stuffs, it was not rushed and they really did calculated how they can create their impact and even build a fandom even before they officially debuted.

One thing I remember about kard is they used to be popping in the kpop reaction scene. Back in the day everyone would react to BTS dope and fire and then there was like a list of big hits from other groups that people would work through and Kards rumour was one of them. That's how I got to know kard

Ngl the idea of "pre debut" has always felt contrived, it's like they're a group who is releasing music they only haven't debuted because they say they haven't it's completely arbitrary

There isn't really anything wrong with being successful in places other than Korea. Like plenty of reggaeton artits are Americans who are basically unknown on their own country but they do well elsewhere success no matter where it comes from is more than most artists could ask for

KARD are in demand in Malaysia. They were invited several times to concert here. Never bored of their iconic song, Oh Nana.

Frebuary 2023. They had an amazing comeback with "Ring the Alarm" and J.Seph show the world how to rock the militar cut. The girls looks amazing as always and BM has his solo debut and in general they delivered art again. ❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜

As for co-ed, I really liked Checkmate, but I had their music was good but not great, and their image needed help. So, they came out the door troubled, and never had a chance. As for other co-ed groups, I've not been wow'd by them. I think we need a co-ed group that comes out with something really powerful to show that its possible.

my question is: are they underrated? not in kpop, fuck that, i’m asking in the music industry. Are they considered “successful”?

I'm in disbelief to hear that they're disbanding. I love their vocals and sound! It's sad that talented sound is unknown in their own country but known and wanted to the rest of the world. ❤ I hope they continue to share their talents.

This reminds me of UKISS, super popular internationally, having tours outside Korea but they're so underrated in their own country. They have full packed concerts outside but never had a concert in Korea 😢
