Hey Russ, I think Syncthing-fork is removed from Google Play store too, can't find it there.
Ответить@RetroGameCorps HI Russ i would like use Syncthing using my NAS server running Truenas Scale. I was wondering if you would beable to help me set that up?
ОтветитьCan anybody tell me why ipadress:7070 doesnt work with any devices in my case?
ОтветитьWould this be the solution to keep the RP Mini and the RP 5 synced with the same roms and saves?
ОтветитьCan this work on RetroArch on iOS?
ОтветитьI assume if someone got to your local network, even from outside your house or after the initial setup over the internet, they could get on your unsecured syncthing port and sync malicious payloads on there which would get synced on all your devices.
In fact as long as you have access to someone's network who you know for a fact that they have syncthing, you could target all of their devices. That could be anyone who kept the stock password on their box (could be read by anyone who got in your house), any person you shared the password with, anyone who got a wired connection in, etc.
Not sure how feasible and likely that is but the risk is high, so I'd rather create an account. The more I think about it, the scarier it gets. Just make an account and maybe don't recommend people skip the multiple security warnings put there by the devs?
Anybody figured out a way to save states on Rocknix?
ОтветитьSuper helpful! Was even able to stumble my way through the setup using a host PC running Kubuntu Linux!
ОтветитьThis is an okd one but tahnk you so much ! Especially with the written guide.
ОтветитьHello,
Is it possible to synchronize folders from the RG35XXSP to Android using this app, without using a PC?
Thank you!
I've been putting off investing time playing games on my RG35XXH because I've been wasting to buy a more capable device. However, I think between this & muOS supporting achievements, I think I might have to reconsider.
ОтветитьIs there a way to do this without a PC completely? In the section at the end of the video where you show how to sync it without a PC, the first thing you did was to go to your PC and to a web browser.......huh?
Can you skip this step and have the 2 devices just talk to each other, imagine if you are in the middle of the Sahara...THAT kind "without a PC syncing" scenario.
Is this viable to use between Windows and EmuDeck on a handheld PC? I've seen games that use the same names for saves just in different folders so not sure how Syncthing would handle the different files
Ответитьman, I am stuck trying to find the IP address on my device...
ОтветитьSadly I believe the developer of Syncthing-fork for Android is going to be removing it from the play store soon. It will still be available via F-Droid (an alternate app store for android) and directly from their github. At least as long as the developer decides to continue supporting it. Seems like Google has been a real pain as far as file permissions on Android go. From what I've been reading that seems to be why the developer of the original syncthing app gave up on it.
ОтветитьThanks Russ, wish you didn't gloss over dolphin
ОтветитьHaving an issue, if I save on my RP5, that save loads up on my RG40XXV but not the other way around
ОтветитьIn theory, it'd be possible to set up syncthing on something like a FireTV and use that as the home base. Then you wouldn't need to leave your PC on all the time.
ОтветитьIf you are going to be using Save States, it’s extremely important to enable “Don’t overwrite SaveRAM on loading Save State” if this is not enabled and you are playing a game like Final Fantasy and accidentally load an old save state it will REPLACE your game save with the game save from the time the save state was created and you could lose hours of playtime.
ОтветитьIs this possible with Retropie on Raspberry Pi?
Ответить@RetroGameCorps I was able to sync my savestates with Rocknix. I think they might have addressed whatever issues you encountered when you were trying to turn on the ‘save to core’ folder.
I would also recommend you check the first 4 options and store your saves and savestates into content directory folders AND core folders.
This will make it easier to sync Rocknix with the same folder structure as Android because the savestates (using Genesis as an example) will still end up in the ‘storage/roms/savestates/genesis’
Folder.
You can then turn “save to content directory” off in your Rocknix device for the savestates only and it will still create that Genesis folder plus the core folder under it.
Someone help, I cant get the notifications to appear on the retroid.
ОтветитьCan I run syncthing between my 35xxSP and my Homebrew 3ds?
ОтветитьGREAT VIDEO. And… Oh please do ArkOS, I can't make it work.
ОтветитьRuss do you think it would be possible to get this to work on MinUI
ОтветитьFor Android users on phones, following the 'Retroid Pocket 4 Pro' section doesn't fully work. RetroArch, at least for me as of writing on my device, does not have a 'Sort Saves/States into Folders By Core Name' options. You'll notice he does in the video. If your device does not show these options, then you need to turn those options OFF on your host PC. They have to be the same on every device. Otherwise they technically won't be sharing the same save directory and it won't work. Hope this helps someone!
ОтветитьThank you so much
Ответитьmissed this video when it came out, fml. As someone with a crippling handheld addiction thank you for this video russ
ОтветитьUsing Syncthing with Android as you've shown works great with Retroarch, but the moment you need to sync for a standalone emulator which stores its saves in the Android/Data folder, it falls apart. Spent a lot of time and went through a lot of pain only to find that its basically impossible to sync to these folders now without rooting your device due to security changes made by Google.
ОтветитьI just installed spruce os on my Miyoo A30 and there is no app for syncthing. What do I do?
ОтветитьI want to celebrate Syncthing de Mayo.
ОтветитьI think that game saves should be saved to content-directory as those are not core dependent while states are to be ssorted by core name as those won't work on a different core.
Ответитьplease do a Mac version of this
ОтветитьHas anyone had any luck with setting this up on android recently? It seems the latest versions just don't work (on my RP Mini in particular)
ОтветитьIf Synthing fails to install at all (the downloaded installer won't run on my Windows 11 desktop), RUN this in command-with-admin then re-attempt the installer and it will work...this is poor design, frankly.
reg add "HKCR\.js" /ve /d "JSFile"
Thank you so much! I tried quite a few programs for synchronization, but this is the first one that works reliable.
ОтветитьIn recent version of RetroArch (on Android) I noticed a native Cloud Sync that can be used as an alternative. It's under Settings -> Saving -> Cloud Sync (at the bottom). For now, I see only WebDAV backend as an option, so you're gonna need a WebDAV compatible server for it to work (like Nextcloud). I assume that in the future more options will be available.
ОтветитьFor some reason this isn't connecting to my device properly and isnt syncing all the files with retroarch. It's syncing some but not all of them it's so weird, and there aren't even my saves connected to it. I'm on MuOS PIXIE though so maybe that has something to do with it...idk.
Ответитьas someone who does not programm a NASA-PC in its spare time i gotta say... If they manage to make such a good Programm, how in the fugging hell did they manage to make the process so incredibly confusing for a anyone else. The only thing that is holding this programm back from being the reason for worldpeace is that it is a nightmare to setup, just drag him out of its room so he can see
ОтветитьCould it run on a Azure Web Apps on a Basic Free Tier? Or does the project only works locally?
ОтветитьHey Russ, one great way to set up Syncthing is to use a remote Linux server. For a small cost you have an always online solution without having to let your PC run. It’s pretty easy to set up with Docker.
Ответитьfor those who are setting up Syncthing with muOS with a dual SD setup, bear in mind that the root for the SD slot 2 is: /run/muos/storage/save/
ОтветитьIs it only for retroarch? What about yuzu, dolphin and others? Is there at least a way to back up and transfer the games progress from one hanheld to the other? Thank you! Love your videos.
ОтветитьI tought it would be a waste of time, such a long video, but it was an amazing video and it was worth it every second. Thank you!
ОтветитьIt is possible to do via oracle cloud with linux? I mean my pc consume much energy just to be online
ОтветитьThanks for the guide! It got me off the ground with a setup, but I’d love to see it expanded on a bit more with some more powerful systems like PS2, GameCube, and Dreamcast to name a few that might have a less than traditional configuration or might be a little bit more complex. Something more than just RetroArch as far as systems. Cheers!
