This is honestly my favourite father-daughter moment like EVER!!!! IT’S JUST SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Honestly I do believe Mikael loved all his children but after Freya ‘died’ he was afraid to love them including Klaus I think he felt betrayed by his family by his wife Esther like first his child ‘dies’ when he’s in battle then his youngest dies by werewolves then he finds out his wife cheated on him with the very thing that killed his youngest son then Klaus kills his wife Mikael just felt betrayed just as Klaus has felt with his siblings their family is very messed up but they all have reasons behind their actions whether or not they are good reasons nonetheless they are reasons

Mikael's favourites are his daughters I see. If only Esther gave him less boys

Mikael was never after his children. Mikael was after Klaus. That's different! In TVD, Mikael even told it to Rebekah that he was never after her.

I love how she loves mikael but she can’t stand Esther which I completely understand Freya for feeling but why do they all blame mikael when Esther honestly was the cause of all the problems.

I honestly think if Freya hadn’t been taken and he hadn’t thought she died he wouldn’t have ended up the way he did. He truly loved her with all his heart and when he lost her something in him changed. Probably a fear that if he loved any of his children he’d loose them

Why did Freya not have an accent like all the other siblings lol instead she just talked in this weird way and then stopped

I feel like ever since mikael lost Freya he though he couldn’t love his children anymore because he was afraid of losing them too

Everyone is hero in their own story, things just happened in life that change people forever. Nothing is white and black, everyone has feelings and their story, so before you judge people for their bad act, remember that all of us could became those people if lived in the circumstance they lived.

I still hate Mikael but I felt kinda bad for him here.

I’m not defending mikael, but I can’t blame him being harsh, his daughter was taken and he was lied to that she was killed, that had to be painful for him, it doesn’t excuse how he treated his other kids, but i can understand why he was that way, although it doesn’t make any of it ok

This scene is one of the few where we see mikael has a heart

I blame Esther for Mikael’s pain. She destroyed her own family twice. First when she abandoned Dahlia and again when she made the firstborn bargain.

Her voice changes a lot through the show. Maybe it’s a minor detail but it feels like as she opens more and becomes more herself, she speaks less formally and her accent is a bit different. Idk she’s my favourite and this detail is something I find fascinating hahaha

I wonder what happened to mikhael after this......he was never seen

I’m rewatching and literally just passed this scene, it was sad and heartwarming and it made me feel a little sorry for Mikael but that still doesn’t excuse his horrendous acts and personality

He lost his humanity the day he lost Freya 😢. K I hate mikael but I understand why he is the way he is

Mikael didn’t wanted his children be weak cuz the way they told mikael how freya died!!, he wanted them to be strong not to die that’s why he want to make klaus strong no matter what is the cost

Mikael was harsh and strict to the rest of his children because of the "death" of Freya. He wanted them to get stronger to survive. Mikael made them immortal because of the death of Henrik because Mikael realized physical human strength isn't enough to survive against supernatural creatures. Add to the equation his viking blood, the lose of his three children (yes he lost Klaus too when he was bombarded by the fact he wasn't his son and right when he started to be proud of him because of his strength improvement too), his wife's betrayal, and the result will be self explanatory.

I have to admit this is such a cute scene!! Mikael is shocked but so happy to see Freya again.

I never understood why they needed more children when they already had Freya and Finn. Finn was Esther's favorite and Freya was obviously Mikaels.

Honestly I don’t blame him for changing, he loved his first 2 children one died, so he became strict and had 6 more children who survived (excluding Henrik sorta)

Like many other villains in these shows we see a redeeming side, and like Klaus once said maybe he had a father who broke him, and the loss of a child and many bloody battles before knowing immortality.

I was trying to remember the name of Michael's sword so I could name my eaylander in Team fortress 2 after it but I couldn't remember exactly how the name was. So thank you this was helpful.

I could tell he loved freya he was very different around her.

This goes to show you that everything that followed was Esther’s fault, Mikael wouldn’t have been such an asshole if not for Esther
