James Garner FINALLY Breaks Silence On Jack Elam

Age 13, Circa 1960: The Cuban émigrés in the apartment above us played dominoes, day and night. The games were not for toothpicks. The sounds of the shuffling ivories, clicking and clacking, echoed off the building next door. Occasionally, and just loudly enough to not quite understand the words, male voices in rapid Castilian Spanish and/or English echoed off the building next door. I doubt I saw any of the residents or their visitors more than once or twice during the whole time I lived there. Our doorbell rang one afternoon. When I answered it, a very tall man stood in the foyer. He apologized for the intrusion and asked for the folks upstairs. I gaped and pointed upstairs. Actor Jack Elam Jack Elam said, “Thanks.” and went up to join the floating domino game. I would later learn that Jack (the former accountant) gambled… a lot.

Garner (1928-2014) was a Combat Vet... As am I, your knees get trashed... and I got a stent... The physical toll of being combat is much greater than people realize..One's heart (and your body) take a beating in every way shape and form. I too began smoking at 12, but quit at age 40. Rest In Peace Brother...
