I lived in LA when I was young. I didn't think about air conditioning because where I come from it's so humid in summer.... LA is hot outside, but almost as soon as you go indoors, you cool off because it's so dry...

Big cities in the Eastern the half of the US are generally much better in terms of walkability because they were developed before cars existed just like the big cities in Europe. The west coast, LA in particular was built up after cars were widespreead and before there was any cultural realization about their negative impacts.

Welcome to my country and state, but you might be more comfortable in the northern US. Los Angeles is 34 degrees North, compared to Kiev at 50 degrees North. It's like you moved to North Africa! Of course it is a lot hotter. You can buy a small window air conditioner pretty cheap. November through May will be much more pleasant, since it never snows in Los Angeles. If you want snow and have a car (or friends with a car) it's a short trip to the mountains to the North of the city.

Just think, if the US was more like Ukraine, maybe we would have another country (Russia) bombing and taking us over too! We should get on that. I'm sure that the Ukraine would be more than happy to take you back since "every apartment has a washing machine." Sorry you decided to move to such a sub-par neighborhood. California tends to work differently and is different from the rest of the country. In general, most Americans can't afford many places in California either and that is worse with Bidenomics working to bankrupt the country.

Yes LA is very out-of-date - most of California is as well. I went to university in LA and frankly I do NOT miss it at all.

I don't know if they still sell newspapers in Canada anymore. I do everything online. I rarely use cash, mostly debit. The laundry machines in my building don't accept cash. I have a digital card that I insert into the machines.

Next visit, go to California, Los Angeles preferably. That's where you'll find cheap lodging, cheap food, walk everywhere, etc, etc.
