The one thing I like about the souvenirs is that every character has a unique opening animation.
And some can work well with some voice lines, Example the lions drink pairs well with Reins beer voiceline or the heart one pairs well with Pink mercy and cupid Hanzo.
Junkrats opening animation pairs well with food ones like pinapple pizza. To add to that 2nd idea souneveers can be for varios parts of the characters.
It can be a backpack a hat a bracelette stuff like that. It may take some time to impliment in. I love the idea of adding new customisable options that make our character look cooler.

ОтветитьThey could use the souvenirs in highlight and play of the game intros.
Have a few souvenir intros we can unlock and then assign a prop to it from our souvenirs. For example, maybe Junkrat could have a juggling intro and we could make him juggling some Lucio-o's or Roadhog carrying an armful of Garden gnomes or Bastion chasing Ganymede as he flies away with a pizza slice.
I've always had the idea of mythic emotes where similar to team fortress 2 people can do an emote that intractable with other people.
So for example Tracer can stand with her hand out and if anyone walks up to her and presses a certain key they will high-five tracer. Each one having their own style of doing it.
I also thought about character heights and how that would work And we can easily have it where each role has their own mythic emote like tank emotes will arm wrestle one another with a random winner each time GPS can stick with the high five emotes supports I'm not sure what yet
the only good thing I have to give props to is. they atleast dont sell us souvenirs in bundles anymore and the amount we get in the battlepass also got drasticly lowered. I feel Blizzard themselves dont even like them XD

ОтветитьProblem with the souvenirs is clear, people instantly saw through them... they only exist to pad the battlepass and pimp up shop-bundles to make then look worth more than they actually are, plus require no effort to create. As much as i hate the amount of currencies in current day games... if Blizz were smart, they simply would have added a currency to upgrade sprays and emotes with some flashy effects

ОтветитьFortnite has souvenirs so overwatch decided to do souvenirs. The difference is that Fortnite is a social experience where you can do more than just fight each other in a 5V5 arena style battle. There are some modes in Fortnite that allow for social interactions and in these cases, souvenirs are great! overwatch doesn’t have that and so souvenirs are useless especially when there is an animation time that could be deadly in the wrong situation.

ОтветитьTbh outside of all the suggestions which I imagine only contribute to like an actual decade of technical debt that is overwatchs code they should just delete them they’re literally wastes of space and 3d models either make it so that the object appears as a singular thing in the map that my hero can bring out or something cause an emote where I present a winton plushie in all seriousness is funny but like they can just make emotes instead idk man the weapon charms basically do the exact same thing in my mind that souvenirs weee supposed to be but they’re just pointless.
Ответитьi would just merge weapon charms and souvenirs to fit under the souvenirs catagory, make them able to be used as weapon charms and how they are used now. Then, add options to use as a victory pose or a highlight intro (like what was said in the video, but i dont think it would fit the hero selection screen very well) and this shouldn't be too hard to implement, just add some camera adjustments to the highlight intro + throw in the already existing emote animation (maybe speed it up for some heroes). This could also be more of a reason to earn souvenirs, there could be ranked souvenirs or achievement souvenirs which you can show off in multiple places.
Ответитьsouvenirs dont have better use, I guess, they just need to stop them forever starting now, we want actuall effort. Emotes, win poses! that's what we need. Unique Vfx to skins that are not mythics, like the Mercy ones, she has a lot of unique vfx skins and she only has one mythic.

I wanted to quickly give my opinion that you might think about: they should make character skins independent of their weapon skins
Have a gachapon machine in game with all the souvenirs from both teams, if you win the match each souvenir from the enemies gets a +1 marker and when you win 10 matches against people with that exact same souvenir, it appears in your inventory, idk

ОтветитьI actually see souvenirs used fairly often. But it is also fairly obviously they are only using them as an emote placeholder. Some characters actually have neat animations pulling it out. Those ideas are fine I guess. Even just making the presentation emote more interactive would do alot.
ОтветитьThe only thing I can think of that wouldn't be a whole new system is if they used them for the stock poses for 1v1 duels in Arcade. Which would be fine but very niche.

ОтветитьEither have Souvenirs drop on death (either marking who died or marking who got the kill) or make them like SPRAYS so each player can place/move one around as objects on the map. Imagine loading up the payload with them or sticking them all over the Pushbot.
ОтветитьThey're just another emote sadly... I use them for some characters if I find their animation cool or amusing or dislike their other emote options. I'd love for them to be used in other ways.
The spawn room idea sounds fun! Knocking around pizza slices before the match starts would be a good way to pass the time haha.
imo, souvenirs are great when they fit a theme of some sort. the PachiKnighti souvenir goes great with Adventurer Tracer. the Balloon Dog: 76 is on Soldier for me when I use his Crimson Clown skin. Widow's Ghostly Bride skin is perfect with the Ghostly Blossoms souvenir. its the shit like wooden frog and pineapple pizza that i'll never use

ОтветитьThe spawn room idea is really interesting! I never thought of that, but I have given this subject maybe more brainspace then it deserves. I think my biggest gripe about weapon charms and souvenirs is that they aren't character specific. So I think I'd start there, Id love some character specific things to show up, like how sprays have some personality to the heroes... even though lately a majority of the sprays are just OF the character, and not any interesting icons or things that are a little more personal... But thats a different story.
I think it would be really interesting to have them function more like sprays maybe? be able to place them down. Then watch them bounce all over the place. As long as they stay pretty small and dont impact game play anyway.
I also think it would be really interesting to let custom game modes use them. Like they're just 3D models. It would be so neat to see a custom game mode where you fight a pineapple pizza that shoots fire strikes or something like that. It would definitely open up a lot of possibilities for cool visual flair for different modes and things.
Why not have it so after you display it in the cheesy emote, you can use the interact button to throw it anywhere you like during the match?

ОтветитьThe problem is that it animation locks you, which has no place in a fast paced game. I think it would be cool if it just appeared above your head instead of causing an entire animation, or have it be a kill quip that appears after you get an elimination.
ОтветитьJust have the souvenir drop onto the floor as a plush toy after you finish using the emote for it. Delete the old plush everytime you use a new souvenir emote to reduce server overload.
ОтветитьI've always thought it'd be cool if they made them work like anna's beach ball emote. keep them how they are now (accept id prefer a dedicated select wheel) but when you cancel the "emote", instead of the souvenir vanishing they get dropped and become an interactable object you can punch around. 1 interactable object on the map at once for each person shouldn't be too much of a strain on the game. Just have the first de-spawn after another is used, or after a certain time not being interacted with.

Ответитьi had some similar ideas too like giving players a room in the base of a faction they choose, like ow or talon for example and have some shelves where you can put em that works as a hub for players, they already do this on their own in “chill” lobbies, or to make it more interactive you drop your selected souvenir on arcade modes like the pachimari event, or even a new mode where you capture zones and pick em up to cash em in like on the kpop event
ОтветитьI still think they should just lump souveniers and weapon charms together. So instead of unlocking one or the other, you would just unlock the 3D model, and then you could choose if you wanted to use it as a weapon charm and/or in an emote like they currently do

ОтветитьA small change I'd love to see is that when you end the emote, whatever souvenir you were holding out falls to the floor as an object that you can kick around like the basketballs on control maps. No physical hitbox so it doesn't hinder gameplay, and if you use another souvenir the last one despawns so there's no clutter. It'd be such an easy change and like your suggestion it'd give us another thing to do in the spawn room before match begins
