Solar powered motors?
ОтветитьGood stuff
ОтветитьAwesome video, lots of great info, thank you
ОтветитьIs there a company that specializes in going over everything in a boat in detail to make sure everything is in working order, and also make recommendations on what should be done. There is no way I am qualified to handle this job.
ОтветитьYou left off Arneson Drive
ОтветитьGreat information. I would love to get that took kit on how to buy a boat. I am considering a boat between 50-65ft.
ОтветитьI will be binge watching your videos, thanks.
Ответитьps
Hire a reliable boat surveyor if ya think you're in over your head in water.
This is another excellent video that explains the different types of propulsion available on the boat’s length. However, an important note to not forget is that on V-drives, or on any other true inboard engine, you have to maintain the packing glands around the propeller shaft. They can’t be too loose or too tight. Ten drips of water for every minute, or 1 drip every 10 seconds should suffice to keep the drive/propeller shaft cool. Also, some older sterndrive I/O engines had engine synchronizers on them to adjust at idle to prevent annoying vibrations and unwanted torque steer while under way.
Ответитьwow man thanks for this info. super helpful. I am saving up.

ОтветитьWas going to scroll by but today is a chill day and I am interested in owning a boat. Glad I took the time. Lots of great common-sense information given with no nonsense, that is if you are interested in owning a boat or transitioning from a camper/motor home to a boat. Long, but easy to follow and a wealth of good sense information for enjoying this life style. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI want one about 200 tonnes capacity and 35 knot cruising capacity.
ОтветитьCan you make a video about buying Cuddy Cabins? I’ve seen a lot for sale lately in FL ranging from 5-15k and some seem like great deals, just would like some more info
ОтветитьIf you have the budget look at the LRC58, it is very cheap for its size and ability and is a very very efficient hull. 750k usd (depending on fit out) For a 58 foot cruiser that is self righting and easily able to cross any ocean (7000nm range at 7 knots!)
ОтветитьHow much is a proper survey service?
ОтветитьSuper video
ОтветитьHey Juan from the future here let me tell you about gas prices F bananas dude
Ответить"A gas engine will have a life of 1k to 1.5k"... HUH.... that's 90k miles @ 60 mph. EVERY ICE in the US that goes on the road is "engine sealed" for 150k miles (just needs filters and oil changed)... since 2010... /glares. So, do maritime motirs suk or?
ОтветитьYou need an audio filter so we can't hear you every time you swallow between breaths.
ОтветитьBOAT... Bust Out Another Thousand!
ОтветитьI'm new to the boat world. This video answered soooo many queries I had and more! Thank you so much for all the infos!
ОтветитьHi All. Excellent channel. looking to purchase a family boat to cruise around the NYC Metro area during the summer, then cruise to Miami area for the winters. I may charter it out during the winter for trips to Bahamas. Question is I would like a list of manufacturers based on quality. I have not determined as to type of vessel. Probably between a used trawler, power cat or a cruiser yacht with fly bridge. With so many manufacturers like Galeon, Azimut, Leopard, Aquila, MJM, Back Cove etc… it would be great to have an idea of the quality makers. I would figure size range in the 43-55ft area. Anyone else reading this, I would appreciate your help as well. Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьSo, if you knock one of these propeller pods off the Pod Drives, I then have to hire a dive team go down and retrieve the $20,000 pod?
ОтветитьI’m new to the boating world thank u for this video u did a amazing job I’ve learned a lot
ОтветитьAwesome content!! Thanks for the freebies!
ОтветитьSuper helpful video! Thank you for putting this out!
ОтветитьWell articulated...
ОтветитьMost important thing to do is to get a surveyor, this save me from buying a bad boat.
ОтветитьHi. I have 2 questions. You bring up impeller alot. On a v drive engine where is the impeller to cool off the engine? You brought up impeller for the generator too. Is it the same impeller for both the engine and generator?
Ответить24 to 50 ft is a big difference too
ОтветитьGreat job on this. Thanks!!!
ОтветитьThe Volvo pod drives face the other direction. The props face the front of the boat
ОтветитьBig fan of diesel for many reasons. Increased resale value, longevity, maintenance, consistent power, and most of all ya don't have to worry about 300 gallons of gas EXPLODING.
ОтветитьCan you do a video on 40-60 ft vessels and talk about the differences between stern/ v-drive/ and IPS
ОтветитьSooo informative and useful! Thank you!👌👍
ОтветитьI am in Canada , can you please send me a copy of your book? First time buying a used center console boat!
ОтветитьI'm looking into buying a 50-60 ft. to use as a house boat. This was great information!
ОтветитьLast video “don’t buy a cruiser” this video “how to buy a cruiser” lol
Ответить"make sure you find a good boat surveyor" - if i had the expertise to make sure I found a good surveyor, I could do an expert survey myself!
ОтветитьI watched this video many, many times before I purchased a used 260 Sundancer a few months ago. I watched it again recently with a much better perspective on how valuable this video was. I am very new to cruisers, stern drives and all of this stuff. I heeded all of the advice here, insisted on a sea trial, paid for a survey, and had a mechanic do a colonoscopy type inspection on the engine. Found some issues, worked the deal an finally closed the deal. Very happy so far. A few comments if you are still shopping around. The video mentioned that a cruiser is like a “condo on the water”. In reality it like an “RV” on the water. Jabsco pumps , dometic components everywhere, pex plumbing, tanks, kuuma water heaters….. So spend some time picking apart these systems with your surveyor. checking out an engine that has been sitting around for a long time can also be very tricky. Make sure the engine gets a good , hard workout before you do a compression test so you can eliminate this as an issue. Also heed the advice on your approach and demeanor. I dealt with brokers, individuals, and consignment yards. All of these “sellers” had wide ranges of experience and knowledge of cruisers,, Some knew a lot, some new some, some really didn’t know much. I didn’t even know this engine had a catalytic converter until the mechanic I hired explained all of this stuff and many things the seller could not, or would not elaborate on. You really need to do your homework if you are a newbie to cruisers like me. This video was extremely helpful to me, I follow this channel, occasionally join the live show Sunday nights, and have bought a few of vids.. all good
ОтветитьI have owned 2 cruisers and I prefer outboard engines....
ОтветитьGreat overall advise, having owned everything from cuddy cabin to houseboats, outboards , inboards and new vs used. You HAVE to check everything. Thank you 🎉
ОтветитьBest boat is your friend’s . . .
ОтветитьBrilliant advice THANK YOU so much ❤
Ответитьboat buyers should have to complete a boater's safety class before the boat is purchased and have to show it at SOS.
Ответитьthank you for he great info
