Wolly Mammoth was only one mammoth species. The Columbian Mammoth lived in the lower part of North America and were not necessarily hairy, but more like today's elephants.

Mammoth has clear advantage.

I think the wooly mammoth would be at a disadvantage due to its tusks being so curved. They may assist in defense but would be worthless offensively. If the mastadon can get inside the mammoth's defenses, it's tusks are perfect for deep stab wounds....likely fatal stab wounds based on the location of the stab.

I’d give it to the Mastodon given the information provided in the video.

My opinion is that this is absolutely wild speculation based on how modern elephants act. Most of the behaviors in the video would leave no trace. Mastodons in particular ar unrelated to modern elephants and more importantly, had different lifestyles with different diets. I would like to see peaceful elephants but of course "When elephants fight, the grass sets trampled."

I prefer the Mastodont spelling to refer to the actual prehistoric animal. So as not to be confused with Mastodon the social website and Mastodon the rock band, and on and on.

And then you have the Columbian Mammoth larger than the Wooly. Hot Springs SD has a museum/fossil dig you can apply to help them excavate. At least they offered the amateur paleontology spots a few years ago.
