Neither the MX-5 nor the Mondial were designed with drag racing in mind. So 0-60 was never a priority.

I own an Ferrari Mondial T convertible. 300 HP is enough for this car, fun to drive and a great sound. Nothing to complain from my side.

I have had many "sports" cars, Ferrari one of them, and at the end, EVERY son of ... has to push to pass you just they can say they did it... their excuse, "it is not the car but the driver" and in many instances, it can be the case but I still enjoy the ride and the pleasure of car and not looking to kill myself or get a ticket just to show off. Now as I got older, I still have some vintage sports cars and I do love deriving them slowly and showing them off...

Sports cars reflect whole package , during pleasure , steering feel , handling , not just straight line speed which is OK until you come to a corner .

I think the "icon" of spoty and really slow car is Toyota Celica last generation :)

I swear, slow sporty cars are more fun to drive than actual hypercar... driving fast on a slow car is more fun than driving slow in a fast car.

A Miata wanted to race me once at a red light. He fell back with a screaming engine and a very unimpressed girlfriend in the passenger seat. I had a Chrysler 300 touring 4-door family sedan that didn't even break a sweat... lol

It was good in a way they were underpowered....high powered cars under 2500 lbs. with literally no crumple zones....in inexperienced hands at high speeds.... many drivers left looking like a garden slug stuck on the bottom of a shoe....

There was in Germany the Karmann Ghia, a Käfer( beetle) with a sports car body. And among german microcars of 1950s/ early 1960s there was a very tiny one, looking like a sports car, have forgotten then name ( Kleinschnittger?).

A few years back I had a 10th anniversary mx5 in blue. It would corner better than any car I've ever driven, and I've driven lots!. It made it as much fun as you can legally have on four wheels. Soft compound yokohamas helped.

first many old true sports cars were slow,,, but this list is very bad in all ways.
opal gt, mg midget spitfire, Austin sprite, were sports cars,, not want to be sports cars, a list of slowest of all times would not have many modern cars,,, VW and porsch 914,

at the smart roadster coupe version there is actually a 1.4 V6 version and yes the smallest cylinder ever, but it makes 170 hp so its good!

A car can be sporty but slow like an MX-5. Or it can be fast but not sporty, like a Dodge Charger. Being sporty or not is dependent on handling, not power.

I hate when people say the cars outlined in this video are slow.

They are slow compared, to say, a Lamborghini. But think about what these are sold next to.

A lot of these cars are in a similar price range to something like a base model Merc C class. They're lighter, nimble, usually better for fuel, and actually faster in a lot of cases. It just isn't fair to call cars with less than 300hp slow when you compare them to everything else on the road (cue fiestas and polos)

The MX-5 is a great car, but Jesus Christ, it drifts. I was in a miata and turned on a roundabout and did a full on 180. I was in first gear.
